Resort quick service that is worth the trip

Would love to hear of some resort quick service that is worth the trip - either because quality if unusually high or the variety is better than most. We are staying at All Star Music with free QS dining and are very familiar with those food courts and the park quick service restaurants. We'll be there 9 nights and will definitely want to build in some variety of meals.

We love Wolfgang Puck Express at Disney Springs (it'll always be Downtown Disney in my heart) and may venture over to AOA as we enjoyed their less typical menu when we stayed at Pop a few years ago. Where else?

We're fans of Captain Cook's at the Poly, and Mara at AKL. Both are cool resorts to check out, so we enjoy walking around before/after we grab a bite. We also love Roaring Fork at WL, but it's closed right now.

Gasparilla Grill at GF - really good sandwiches and salad, etc ..can take the boat over and eat so it feels like more of an adventure Contempo at CR is excellent- very good and varied selection...Geyser Point at WL was great - our favorite "new find"!

We like to go to Contemporary and eat at Contempo Cafe. Doesn't take much time to get there on a MK day. The food is good and is less hectic than some of the other QS locations.

I'm a bit tempted to go over to CBR to try their QS buffet (during construction). We are there for 2 weeks so have the time.

I hadn't heard that the buffet at CBR was going to be a quick service. Where did you hear that from? Exciting news if correct as we will be staying there.

Honestly, I didn't feel like much was worth the extra effort. A few years ago, we really tried to try out a lot of the resort QS and we did think Gasparilla Grill was pretty good. But the time and effort it took to get there wasn't worth it to us, especially with small kids. Now, I do think Disney Springs has a lot of new great selections. We loved D-Lux burger, the new BBQ place looks good, Blaze'd for pizza, etc...

What dining options will be available during the refurbishments?
While Old Port Royale Food Court, Shutters at Old Port Royale and Banana Cabana Pool Bar will be closed during this time, Guests will have several food and beverage options available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This includes:

• All-you-care-to-enjoy buffet offerings for breakfast and dinner.

• A selection of grab-and-go meals available for purchase throughout the day in three island markets in the Aruba, Jamaica and Martinique regions of the resort. These grab-and-go options provide quick food and beverage offerings that could include items such as sandwiches, fresh fruit, bottled beverages and more.

• Additional a la carte offerings available at mobile food vending locations.

• In-room dining, with a menu including pizza, sandwiches and pasta.

• Disney dining plans will be accepted and dining locations will offer menu options to meet dietary needs.

• Coca-Cola Freestyle machines will be available throughout the resort for Guests to refill their resort mugs.

Will the Disney Dining Plan be accepted for these dining options?
Yes, Disney Dining Plans will be accepted. Breakfast and dinner buffet options will be available as one (1) Quick-Service entitlement, while grab-and-go options are also eligible for one (1) Snack or Quick-Service entitlement, depending on the item.

I have a hard time imagining going out of my way to check out QS at other hotels. The food courts at the moderates are better than the deluxes it seems. I think it's cool to check out the other hotels and could see grabbing food while doing that but going just for the food court seems odd.

My favorite QS at WDW is Be Our Guest Lunch.

Have you been over to AKL? Mara is good QS and the resort is worth a trip. Plus you can get Zebra Domes!

I can for sure vouch for the contempo cafe, just a short monorail ride from MK and good quality food with more variety than in the parks, lot less crowded, cool airconditioned environment. Frequently have lunch here on MK days before heading back to the resort for my midday break.

The Mara at AKL is great; I really loved the falafel! We took a bus over from AK one day, and it worked out really well.

I am also a big fan of Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary, and it's really convenient if you're at MK.

I also really love Pepper Market at CSR, but we've only eaten there when we've stayed there.

I'd have to agree that most QS aren't worth the extra effort. That said, we did trek to Contempo Cafe on a MK day and really enjoyed taking the monorail and checking out that resort. The food quality was very good, but the DESSERTS were much nicer than most QS. It's really loud with the monorail and Chef Mickey's right next door. Check out their menu and see if anything appeals to your group there.

We would like to go to Captain Cook's to try the Tonga Toast that's there too. We've always wanted to try that, but it does require a lot of effort and is out of your way from ASMu

Wow! Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. We are planning a few days off without going to the parks and would enjoy checking out some of the other resorts anyway so we'll have some time to check out QS without losing park time.

We have been trying to visit a deluxe resort for a QS meal on our last few trips. We've had lunch at Roaring Forks (Wilderness Lodge) - just ok, but it was fun to see the resort. This past trip DH and I had a nice breakfast on the terrace at Captain Cook's (Poly). We both enjoyed the morning and the food very much. We always have a car, so visiting other resorts is really easy.

I suggest checking out the beignets at POFQ.

Another vote for the beignets at POFQ – when we had a few days off from the park, we went over there and they were a great treat! It’s also a nice boat ride away from DS (or was at the time we went).
