Resort QS take-out: bag, tray, other?

I know at some point during our WDW resort stay I'll run to the QS to get take-out for my family. Generally I grab one of the kids to help carry anything. But even then we have some leaning towers of containers to carry to the pool or to the room.

What does everyone use in these circumstances? I don't recall the QS locations having bags or boxes. We've also used a tray for taking to the pool but not to the room -- I suppose you could though.

I'm thinking of packing one of those reusable grocery store bags on the next trip just for this purpose.

Anyone else have a clever idea?

Roaring Fork had bags, paper with handles. I don't know if all have them, but I had this issue here and asked.

I haven't done it in years, but when I was a kid we used to take a tray back to the room. It would always disappear when the room was cleaned. I do not know if this was kosher or not, or if it was okay back in 1995 or whatever year we used to do it but is now frowned upon, but I have definitely taken trays before.

One time I got QS for us to eat while waiting for wishes. I used a plastic shopping bag from earlier in my trip to carry the meal containers

One problem is that not all the containers/plates have lids, we've found. A tray seems to be the best bet. We have had a plate with a plate on top in order to keep the food covered before. There would be no way to put it in a bag.

We didn't do any take out at Pop last week, but I watched a lot of people getting their meals to go. The resort has trays, and all meals are served on paper plates. For to-go you just have to tell the server that you want it 'to go' and they will give you a plastic cover that fits over the plate. The cashiers also have plastic bags to put it in if you would rather take it in a bag than carry it on the tray. They have pizza boxes if you order pizza.

We did this several times last trip. Caribbean Beach has plastic covers that fit over the plate, so plates can be stacked and food doesn't slide off as easily. The covers were near the drink station. Alternately, I think you *could* take a tray and if anyone asks about it simply reassure them you mean to return it.
Enjoy your trip!

After carrying a tray all the way to Broadway at ASM for several days I discovered they had bags with handles. Sooooo much easier. A tray is fine for short walk but not that far! My DD still gives me grief for spilling her drink on my way back once

Is it actually frowned on to take a tray back to the room? We don't do it often, but have on occasion. I always clean up and throw away anything that needs to be. Then leave the empty tray on the table. It's always gone once housekeeping has come by. I didn't think it was a big deal! Have I been committing a real no-no??

No - taking a tray back to your room is perfectly fine. As long as the tray stays at the resort, no problem at all.

I think what the OP was asking advice about was when his two trays of food are too cumbersome for he and one child to carry back to the room for the entire family.

I've been wondering about this for my the meals I have planned at the pool, but felt I was silly and missing an obvious answer. Thanks for posting!

This is the quote that made me think I was doing something wrong!

The trays as Disney World will almost always stay at Disney World so no problem.

However, there is one place at Hollywood Studios where the Cast Members used to start yelling "Magic Tray, Magic Tray" after the food was served. The food tray to take back to the table was a different color (I've only see it done once) and the family was given a free dessert.
