How would you feel if WDW changed their pool rules to only allow potty trained children to swim in their main pools? Would you change vacation destination?

Those that aren't potty trained just need to wear those pull up made for swimming thingys right? Isn't that the current rule?

It would be nice, but it would never happen. I can just see it now...well, my child is almost trained but not quite, and he/she seldom has any accidents, so I think we'll be safe at the pools...then, that child has an 'accident'. It would just lead to more lying in order for parents to do what they wanted to do in the first place.
It would be nice if those that are not potty trained, completely, would just use the kids splash and play areas though. I've been in a pool several times when it had to be cleaned due to an 'accident'. Man, it's a pain. That pool can be out of action for quite a bit of time...time that most wanted to be in the pool.
So, sure it would be nice if kids had to be potty trained. But, it won't happen. I can see the 'swim diaper' police now.....the rule would be no swim diapers in the pool...and guests would be checking kids' bottoms to see how 'padded' they are.:faint:

JMO - my kids are older but I think that would be ridiculous. I think it's really nice to see parents in the pool with young kids. First, how would you ever enforce it? There is no way to know whether a child is potty-trained or not. Parents with young kids should have enough common sense to put the little swimmer diapers on them regardless of whether or not they're in the main pool or baby pool. And no matter how prepared the parent is, sometimes accidents are going to happen. That's just the nature of kids. When there is an accident, Disney does a good job of evacuating the pool and sanitizing everything.

Not to mention the fact that every day, in every pool across America there are plenty of potty trained kids and probably adults too peeing in the pools. We don't want to think about it but it's happening, gross as it is.

I say thank goodness for chlorine and swim away from the warm spots and "floaters". :lmao: :rotfl2:

There are a lot of non Disney resorts that do not allow non potty trained children in their main pools. The non potty trained children have their own infant pools or splash and play areas.

I was just curious about how people felt about it, thats all.:thumbsup2

I see your point but wouldn't it be nice not to make "everyone" get out of the pool for several hours due to all the "floaters"?

I can't remember the last time I was visiting WDW (in the summertime) that the pool wasn't closed for clean-up and chlorine.

I don't see why Disney can't do this. Most cruiselines have this rule and is pretty strictly enforced. Make non-potty trained kids/kids with swim diapers use the kiddie pools. They are not deep and can be cleaned faster than a large pool. Remember, swim diapers may hold in most, not all, "brown" matter, they don't hold in urine. :worried:

My kids are finally done with potty training, but I do think it would be ridiculous. I wish they would make sure potty age kids are wearing a swim diaper though to cut down on these accidents that close the pool. It stinks when your pool day is ruined by a baby ruth.

It would be great (at each hotel's main pool only) if it could be enforced.

But you'd just see kids who should be wearing diapers going without them so they could be in the main pool.

Actually, long after our DD was potty trained, I continued to use the swim diapers in the pool, just in case there was a rare accident. We didn't want to take the risk of making people sick and ruining their vacation.

Also, the kid who pooped in the Grand Californian pool in DL this past Monday was NOT wearing diapers! She wasn't all that small, either, definitely 3 or 4 years old, not a baby. It would have been better if she had them on!

Kids in the pools that are not potty trained do not bother me( as long as a they have on a swim diaper)I actually get more disgusted by the grown ups that are proud of peeing in the pool( I overheard this guy at pop bragging to his friends...they all thought it was funny).I also stood behind a woman at one of our local water parks that decided to just pee in her swimsuit while waiting in line, and saw a grown up poop in my local community pool.these things gross me out a tad more.

I would be pretty ticked if I came all the way to Disney only to find out that my dd2 wouldn't be allowed in a pool because she wasn't potty trained. This leaves one parent(not to mention if you were a single parent of two or more children) on the side lines because one of us would have to stay in the room with the baby. I know people will say we could take turns, but there would be no way I would make my DD2 sit beside the pool and tell her no she couldn't play. It would also be very inconvenient to make my DD8 get out of the pool, come back to the room so we could trade off. We are on vacation to spend time as a family, not to be trading time with our children. I understand that it is gross if an accident happens, but I believe if parents are taking the proper precautions(swim diapers) then the not yet potty trained children should be allowed in the pool. I would totally be for enforcing a swim diaper rule!! If someone can come up to a better solution in regards to the swim diaper I'd be all for trying that too!
