Resort Pool Invasion

I thought that if you stay on Disney property you can visit any Disney Resort pool? We rarely use the pool but when we do we stay on our resort property. Am I wrong or did they change this?

That was only true years ago when there was only really one level of resort. Now, how fair is it for someone to stay at say, an All Star resort and use the pool at AKL or the Poly? Part of what you're paying for is the resort amenities and paying for value and using deluxe isn't allowed, which makes complete sense.

I'd rat out the pool hoppers also.

Not because they bother me [in fact, the OP's hoppers seem quite friendly] or because I resent my paying for something they did not [you find free riders everywhere if you just look - try playing ice hockey, another expensive pasttime where freeloaders abound] but because I'd feel like I owe it to them for blabbing about it.

I am anxious for the Magic Bands to help a little bit in the pool hopping area. Honestly, even at BC/YC, after 5:00 people flock to the pool because I don't think they check room keys after that time. We had an experience where we had to sit on the concrete on our towels because there were no chairs at 6:30 pm. The lifeguards saw us, so they started to go around asking to see wristbands and/or keys and a huge amount of chairs opened up, so we were thankful to be able to sit in a chair. I'll bet over 25 people left.

This thread is closed. Questions/comments on pool use by those not staying at the resort should be posted on the Pool Hopping FAQ at the top of this board.
