Resort Parking Passes

How does Disney know who is legitimately staying at a resort now without giving parking passes? I know there are many resorts that this is not that big of an issue, but it can be for a select few.

Are they know longer giving out parking passes? We had a parking pass when we stayed at the Poly in August.

They can scan Magic Bands and identify whether or not you are a resort guest

I didn't get one at CSR or at POFQ. But maybe they still are at the monorail resorts?

I didn't get one at SSR in October 2015, they were scanning magic bands instead. I toured most of the resorts on that trip and had my magic band scanned by the guard at each one.

I got one at BWV in October. They are using Magic Bands when you enter but they can't identify cars in the lot.

This past year (2016) I didn't get one at AKL or SSR, but I did at AoA.

I got one at both CSR and YC this past Sept. and got one at CBR last March.

I don't know if they're giving out parking passes, but each time our friends dropped us off at AKL one of us had to have our MB scanned to enter.

As you can see WDW continues with their consistency of being inconsistent We have not gotten a pass on our last 4 trips, including last November at GF, scanned our MB.
And in all honesty, they do not go through the parking lot checking parked cars for passes. I can tell you that almost all the times (25+) when we had a pass, you could not see it because it was covered by our sunscreen. It really was only used when we were coming back into the parking lot from driving somewhere and even then the guard would just barely glance at it and wave us on. No way they could have actually read the resort or dates

I didn't get one at CBR in May 2015. They just scanned my magic band everywhere. The scan didn't work half of the time (surprise, surprise) and they just waved us through.

They have surveillance cameras at the entrances that can time stamp your entry time. At the Poly you can see one just to the front on the right side pointing at the departing car. They do not need to give passes. The monorail resorts are starting to become quite rigid about only those with ADRs or who are resort guests can enter. When we were there 2 months ago we saw several cars turned away. And yes, they were going through the lot to check for cars that were there too long.

Yes you would be surprised what they can do with simple text recognition software. They can read your plate coming in and then have a car ride around and checking every plate.

At our airport they read your plate coming in for 2 reasons. The first being if you lose your ticket they know when you came in and I have heard that if you forget where you parked they have a system that tells you where your car is.

Yeah, they still give those because it's faster to get through the park gates but they aren't needed at the resorts.

Haven't gotten one in years .... to get through the gate at the resort you will need to scan your MB either on gate or with guard so there really is no need at all for one.

We just got one on our last stay at GF. We arrived Nov 27.

We didn't get one for POFQ, when we transferred there on Dec 3.

Who knows?

Except they don't give them to everyone. I mentioned upthread that I didn't get one last year, and many others are reporting the same.

Maybe they are just be very consistent at the monorail resorts? I could see that. Just started thinking about it. I doubt they will give it much thought at the AKL.
