Resort Parking fees for visitors!

She says she will be able to add them to the room because their package is room only and the tickets are separate. No dining plans. And if we book 5 in a room, even if the booking is only a standard room, wouldn't they have to put us in one of the rooms with the 5th sleeper? I'm not trying to get over by any means at all on Disney. I'm just trying to figure out the most economic options. I appreciate the input from you all!

No. They won't let you book a regular Standard room. You have to book a 5th Sleeper Standard room. They are two categories, two prices and they are not flexible at all about numbers. Disney is very strict about this and your TA should know that.

So the question really is ..... does your TA Special Discount include the 5th Sleeper rooms? They would have to book that from the beginning. And you don't have to put their names on the room now that it is a bookable category. Add them on arrival.

We get it, Disney makes booking quite the puzzle when it's new to you. Sadly too many people get steered wrong and don't find out until they get there. That is where Disboards is great help!

Ok. Well I haven't heard back from my TA so I guess I will wait to hear what she says. Thank you!

Is your TA a certified Disney agent? If not I would take the word of those here over her, Disney has some different rules than general hotels.

Yes she is. I'm not discounting anything you guys have said at all. I don't really have a choice other than to wait to see what she says.

After talking to my TA, she says that we can add them to the full stay and pay the extra for them. Then when we check in we can let the resort know that they will only be staying with us for two nights and Disney will refund the rest. That way we are guaranteed to get a room with an occupancy of 5. I just want her to confirm that Disney will believe us and refund us. Has anyone done this before? Had a member of your party originally scheduled and it changes and Disney refunded you?
Yes, we have been told that if you add an extra guest then they have to be added for the entire stay. Then you just have to go to the front desk and let them know that they only stayed part of the time and they refund the extra fee. We had to go through that when we added our daughter for one night. And they did refund the extra fee when we went to the front desk.

Well that’s positive. Doesn’t change the whole 5 person in a standard room thing. Did you have much of an issue getting a refund for the days she wasn’t there?

Did you have a package with tickets and meals? Or just the extra person fee that they refunded?

Mark, is YOUR package just room? You can’t have people on different packages in the same room. If one person has 5 day tickets and dining plan, everyone has to have them. That’s where I’m most curious, I don’t think they will refund the cost of tickets and meal plan for the unused days.

We had a room only reservation. You can't do it if you book a package. My daughter had booked a package and at the last minute our son-in-law could not go on the trip. She was not able to cancel him without paying a $200 fee. He still has an unused park ticket from that trip since she decided to leave him on the reservation.

I have never heard of them refunding everything--dining plan, tickets. They do quite often refund the extra person fee.

I'm sorry, even though you say your TA is a Disney TA, it is not something I would risk. I mean, what would you do if they don't refund everything? That is quite a chunk of money to be risking. The best thing is to book a room that has the sleeper. Then add the extra guests at check in. No risk doing it that way.

No offense meant, but I trust most posters here more than I trust most travel agents. A while back there was a poster who claimed to be a Disney travel agent who was telling people things that were flat out wrong. Such as connecting rooms are always guaranteed. Even though many posters had experiences that showed that to be false. She got nasty about it, and claimed she was saving people stress during their vacations. Thank goodness after a while she was banned.

What I'm trying to say is I would trust people here and their experiences more than I would trust a TA to be told the right thing.

It's quite possible that your TA is not aware of the change in room categories for 2019. In the past, it would be possible to book 5 people in a standard room at POR and they would be assigned to one of the rooms with a pull-down bed. Effective for 2019 (which was just announced last week, so it's very new), the standard rooms that sleep 5 are a separate booking category from the regular standard rooms. And they come with a bigger price tag.

As nice as they are at the front desk, they are not going to give you a complimentary upgrade to one of those rooms unless they need to move a guest from a standard room that sleeps 4. Even if you ask nicely, they will have to charge you the difference in price. This would be the same case if you were to book a standard location at one of the value resorts and then ask to be moved to a preferred location. Sure, they'll move you if they can. But they'll charge you for it.

So, the rooms that have the extra bed in it are in AB, right? None are in the Mansion sections still? So you can have five in your party and not book the extra sleeper room and still get a room with just two queen beds?

You can't book 5 people in a room that accommodates 4 people unless one of those 5 people is under the age of 3.

Correct. I guess I am just confused with this change. I looked online with Disney and it stated the room occupancy of 5 on rooms that were not labeled as the Fifth Sleeper room? So I am wondering if you have 5 people in the room, must one book the extra Fifth Sleeper room?

It's all a bit confusing at times ...

Disney never had the 5th Sleeper category before, only a mixture of categories in the AB section (with sleeper beds) such as Preferred, Garden, River, Pool views. But folks that wanted that bunk with only 4 in their party could only guarantee that option by booking Preferred because ALL the Preferred were in AB. I imagine Disney saw a HUGE demand for that category, not because folks wanted the Preferred location but they wanted that Bunk. Those rooms likely sold fast and folks on request or check in were asking to be moved to AB. Smart on Disney's part to make it an actual category and charge more money for the bunk.

So while you see sleeping 5 in a non-Sleeper room, that is all the other categories in AB. All AB sleeps 5 but if you are booking with 4 or less, and don't pay the extra for the sleeper 5 room .......... you might get put in the Mansions. If you book 5, you are automatically offered and put in AB (sleeper) rooms. It's the smaller groups that have to pay extra to get a sleeper room by booking Preferred or a Sleeper room. This also gives the edge to Disney to put smaller groups in Mansions no matter their "requests" and refuse to move your group because you should have booked the "upgrade" to begin with.

Haven't crunched the numbers before writing this, but the amount you *risk* paying for all the extra nights (relying on Disney to refund you and a possible headache-hassle getting the refund if at all), you could just book an additional standard view room at POR for two nights for the extra guests. And, this way you have two bathrooms. Have a good trip no matter what you decide!

I wonder if a party of 4 would put down an extra ghost guest under the age of 18 to be able to get the rooms in AB?
