Resort ONLY-Major Gates AP-Would you buy?

Would you purchase an AP tied exclusively to WDW Resort stays?

I wouldn't simply because I now live close enough to do day trips and generally visit once or twice a month in addition to using our 625 points.

That's a classic example of someone the poll doesn't apply to. You're not even a candidate for an offering like this. And that's perfectly fine. I hope you didn't vote though.

If you voted 'No' and fall outside the exclusion parameters I attempted to define, I would hope that you would post your rationale behind your thinking in the thread. I would love to hear it.

For some reason my phone browser didn't load your entire post, I would have considered it previous to moving to FL but only if it applied to any resort stay in MDE, I previously rented/traded points out ..maybe a pass only valid at for resort stays but not necessarily stays on your points.

I'd buy an AP that was tied to resort only stays.

What I'm getting more concerned about now is that once I'm in the park I won't be able/want to do anything without waiting in a huge line because of the horrible standby times and lack of availability with Genie+. If my next trip matches up to my fears, then my WDW days are going to be done, AP or no AP. If I lived close to WDW, a resort stay might interest me, but I'm not spending an entire day travelling by plane just to stay at DVC.

Yes; anything to cut costs down.

toying with not going to Disney anymore: seems like everyone has more money than we are willing to spend.

We just calculated our net profit if we decide to rent and it’s starting to be a more appealing proposition given how much $$$ we spend, despite dvc, per Disney trip.

I'm curious, what is the % of DVC that live more that 200 miles away? Would you drive that distance for a one day trip?

Again a push for dvc to get Fl passes. Someone said DVC has to go, locals do not. I think locals probably spend the least of anyone visiting the parks.

AP’s are essentially just a discount card vs other ticket options.
If math showed this was my cheapest option, I would get it.

It’s been a few years since I had any park days associated with some off-site nights. If I was planning a future trip with more days than my DVC points covered, I would have to calculate any possible off site savings vs on site ticket savings.

I would be happy with such a pass, BUT I would want it to be at a discount from the current DVC AP's. If we are giving something up (and I am not really since i pretty much always stay onsite, but I FEEL like I am giving something up), I would want such a pass to come cheaper.

My bet would be that you are an anomaly when it comes to DVC though. Most of us probably do some variations of the weekends, and the booking numbers support that assumption. That pass is designed primarily for the locals I spoke of in my OP. Those people don't even want to be there on the weekend and fight the crowds. They go for dinner and a walk/ride a ride, or have a drink, and they go home. My bet would be that the people who DVC by weekday only parameters is very limited.

Edit to add: I agree to the extent that I have always wondered why all of the FL offerings aren't available to DVC for anyone willing to accept the accompanying restrictions. It has always baffled me, and still does to this day. Most of them wouldn't really help anyone but FL Residents and DVC members anyway.
I'm part of that very limited group then. We're not locals. We stay DVC only. We usually travel on the weekends, which influences not going to parks on weekends, but also we have no desire to fight the weekend crowds, so we share that in common with those locals.

I would consider an AP that was good for resort-stays only, but as others have said, it would have to be the right price for the number of days we would actually end up using or it wouldn't be worth it for us.

A weekday-only "Pixie" pass for around $400 (does that one have black-out dates other than weekends)? I could likely make that work if they offered it to DVC!

When we visit WDW, we fly or drive over 1300 miles each way. So this pass would be fine.

I would not be interested. We like to drive up spur of the moment( When we have a free day) and rooms aren’t always available on a whim. Because of that, we stay anywhere availability exist. We also have the Incredi pass because we tend to hit the parks during the blackout dates on the Sorcerers!

Can’t answer one way or the other. Depends on the price and limits imposed. If price is right and includes park hopping and a reasonable number of days (for us this would probably be up to 30) then yes.

ETA: and no blockout dates.

I voted yes! As stated if it includes park hopping and weekends if your DVC stay is over said weekend.

I brought this up before and don't get why they haven't implemented it. If you're going to continue to expand DVC maybe give some thought into ticketing for us?? They wouldn't have an add-on tool if people didn't regularly add-on. Tough to sell that right now to those of us blocked out of AP's.

The hypothetical ticket doesn't have a 'number of days.' It is an AP tied to resort stays.

Yes as long as there are no block out dates. We live 600+ miles away; so I'm using points for our stay. There is a slim chance we'd be off property, but I don't really plan on doing that since I've got 525 points to use every year.

We just “downgraded” to the pixie pass. It excludes weekends, two weeks around Christmas, a few days during Thanksgiving week, some days around Easter, and a few other scattered days like July 4th, Memorial Day, etc. Our renewal rate was about $361, $30.10 per ticket per month.

Before we were eligible for a FL resident pass, we usually travelled on weekends so we would have entertained a “non-weekend” pass too.

I have always thought that DVC should be offered some of the FL resident options.
