Would you purchase an AP tied exclusively to WDW Resort stays?

It would be nice for DPEP to offer DVC owners something but they are a different division than DVD and have their own reasons, goals, etc for their area..which is parks. I have said many times, if DVD had the power to influence them to sell us something, it would be happening.

My point was more that they a have the pass for us that is priced well so I don’t see any other type of ticket being offered unless the get rid of they one we have.

They don’t want to sell APs right now to anyone but FL residents and that is only the pixie pass. I’d be happy to be able to get that.

Or, bring back a multi day ticket that can be used within a year over. This way, it helps owners without needing to sell any actual AP.

Yea that makes sense the one hand doesn't care about the other, I guess.

I agree the current AP's are plenty good for DVC "when" they offer them.

We just renewed this week for like $850 I believe? Feel bad for folks still waiting.

I feel like a resort only AP is an elegant solution for DVC owners. This would ensure that Disney is still making their money with a captive audience while not punishing a high affinity group.
Disney doesn't care if they punish a "high affinity" group. Instead of DVC, I bought a house very near WDW. Trust me, I spent a whole lot more on property than most people spent for DVC access. But, it was a retirement plan to have a lot of access to WDW.

At least with DVC, you can plan far ahead for when you are going to arrive. With enough lead time, you can get the days you want. If I understand correctly, when you use your points or rent DVC points and stay on property, your park reservation days are not counted against the days you can hold with your tier of your annual pass. In other words, you can still keep the 5 days you can hold as a passholder. A local Florida resident who bought a house to be near WDW ("High Affinity") is severely restricted by not being able to plan that far in advance due to the restricted number of park reservations they can hold at one time.

I can understand the interest in a resort only AP. Personally, I would like to see APs like they were when we called them silver, gold and platinum. I would also like to see no reservations or buckets at all. First come, first served.

I agree. I would like it to be as it was before. I am just being greedy and Want something. Completely selfishly. 😜

So yes it did take me a few minutes to understand the question. Having just bought a place in Orlando about 30 minutes away I would still buy an AP because as a DVC member I would still stay overnight just to get away from the insanity of the real world. Of course it would likely be a Florida pass. We generate so many points on our Visas that they cover all our expenses.

Just one curiosity bump to see if there is any new interest given the happenings of late, or in case somebody that may have been gone for a few weeks may have missed the thread.

Thanks.

The AP tied to resort stay would be perfect for me/mine....altho I'd like to include the Swan, Dolphin & Swan Reserve--and maybe the hotels across the street from Disney Springs...I've only stayed in one of those places once, when there was no availability for my dates...we always stay on-site...we do go to the parks each trip, but don't go to Disney "for" the parks...for us, staying on property is a huge part of the joy of going to Disney....so this hypothetical AP would be perfect for us. And even if they price it at essentially the same cost as day-by-day tickets, we'd buy the APs...I really value not having to pay for park tix each trip...of course it's an "ouch" when I have to pay for the AP, but that's a one-time annual ouch...I do pay for day-by-day tickets for various guests (e.g., my son and my daughter) and HATE it...but they don't go often enough to justify the cost of an AP for them.

I've started to worry that they'll stop allowing renewals...my AP (extended due to COVID-canceled trips) renews in early December, which means I can't renew this year til early October...here it is June and I'm already worrying that by October they won't allow renewals as well as not selling new APs...do you think if I/we worry enough we can stave off that happening?

Thanks Bob. I did miss this thread and have now voted yes
FYI: I emailed Disney about a year ago and suggested they consider offering an AP that would only be valid for park admission when staying on property. I received a reply from Scott in Disney's legal department informing me that my original email and any copies of my email that had been forwarded inside Disney were being deleted since Disney does not accept unsolicited new product ideas. In addition Scott stated if Disney independently decided to offer an AP similar to what I had suggested, I would not be entitled to any compensation.
You have to love Disney legal.

That’s about as close as we will get to a confirmation that Disney is seriously considering it.

1. A real person read your email.
2. That person sent copies to other real people inside of Disney.
3. It generated enough interest with enough people that it came to the attention of legal.
4. Legal is actively scrubbing their network to remove any possibility of having to pay anyone for “their idea”.
5. A real person in legal sent you a “don’t mess with us” email.

I don’t think they would do that much CYA if it wasn’t a possibility in the future. 😀

Maybe the legal department should look more into the actions of DVC management and less into suggestion emails.
