resort hopping?

Just curious. Has anyone ever actually had their ID checked?

I've never had the desire to pool hop, but in probably 100 visits to pools at about 6 different resorts, I've never been asked for an ID nor have I seen anyone ask for an ID.
Yep, like I stated earlier, our ID's have been checked at the BC. No problem for us since we were guest at the resort but they do check ID's. Maybe the resorts are stricter and watch more carefully during busier times but they do check.

If I'm staying at an All Star, is it Ok to pool hop after I park my car at the BW, get my mug filled at the BC and walk over to Epcot?

OF COURSE! It puts you and your car closer to Epcot! Heck, my suggestion? If you are staying offsite- simply valet your car at the grand floridian and take the monrail to MK and epcot! MUCH easier! Plus you can pool hop in the afternoon at GF for a break! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

My family and I have been asked to show our KTTW cards at the Contemporary pool, Wilderness Lodge pool and the Volcano pool at the Polynesian when we have stayed at those Resorts.

Make sure to tell them that your four year old is just "large for his age" and two and that your twelve year old is ten - you'll save a lot on park tickets and buffets that way.....speaking of buffets, if you line you purse with a ziploc bag, you can probably manage to get two more meals out of it - Disney charges too much for buffets anyway - and who can afford to tip when they go to Disney? Don't bother, it really should be Disney's responsibility to pay their servers well.

This is a GREAT way to stretch the DDP! :stir:

I had my head handed to me when I asked this question a few months ago! :lmao:

ive never bothered trying to pool hop, i dont see the excitement in it, it would just take up a hugh part of the day.
but that being said, yes everytime i pull into my resort i am asked for my key to the world. i hand it to the guy and he hands it back, what he does with it, i have no idea.

I'm sorry, I meant have an ID checked at the pool itself. I've had my ID checked as well every time entering the resort by car.

I resort hop a lot - I love to just go look at the resorts (resort hopping is fine if you don't use the pool - although I'll admit to grabbing a out of the way unused pool chair and enjoying a book - if the pool gets too busy I'm outta there anyway) - and if you aren't staying on site everywhere but the Grand Floridan will let you in by flashing a drivers license and let you self park. The MK resorts give you a 3 hour pass - the Grand Floridan will let you in, but not let you self park. So getting to the resort with a car really isn't a huge deal.

For the most part though - you are right - it really isn't worth the bother. Its nice - as DVC members who can hop - to have the option of taking our midday break from the MK at a MK resort pool and letting the kids swim - but the reality is that wet swimsuits, bags for park clothes while we swim, changing in the bathroom - it really is a lot of bother for a pool. If we were going for a no or fewer park day trips (a lot of DVC members will do this) pool hopping starts to look like a good option for spending a day doing something "different" without needing to spend money.

wow-im the OP and never thought this was hot topic..think we're staying at the caribbean but the our kids saw the clown slide at boardwalk and thought it would be fun for them..i can see people getting pissed though if it were crowded. thanks for saving us the meltdown, if we got there and told us no ,the kids would of flipped(they're only 4-so cant rationalize) so how is the pool at the caribbean anyway? kid friendly?

The main pool is being refurbished and won't be finished until mid-September. When we were there a few months ago, we barely looked at it. I think it will be awesome when it's completed. I think they moved slides to the quiet pools though, at least they were supposed to.

oh no..so how many pools are there?

Each village has it's own pool. They refer to them as quiet pools because they are less active than the main pool (normally). Good luck

If the pool is down during their stay, maybe hopping is allowed for that period only.

Often they have let that happen - usually at a "sister" resort - i.e. when its the Boardwalk that is down, Boardwalk guests can use SAB. Dana, call and see if they expect the theme pool to be open by the time you get there and if not, if they are going to permit "hopping."

The CBR pool is a very cool pool. The clown slide at the Boardwalk is long and fast - plenty of four year olds like it, but plenty of six year olds don't.

The op asked an honest question, so why do we always have to make snide and smart-a@%ed comments?:confused3 Op-pool hopping is kind of a no no.They do check resort Ids, maybe not all the time, but they do.I Have had my resort ID checked at WL,BC, and AKL for trips during September,May, and December not on major holidays.YC/BC pool was fenced in because of all the non-resort guests flocking to that pool, and they do give out armbands.

No, and please mods, close this thread for the love of all things Disney! :rotfl2: :goodvibes

This comment makes this first time visitor to WDW [next week] feel like there is some closed society that rules the place.

This type of comment certainly makes one wonder how many DIS-Veterans will be posted around the place making sure nobody offers a comment or suggestion that hasn't been approved by the WDW Knights Templar :worship: .
