While away was thinking of resort hopping including some of the DVC resorts like Saratoga, Bay Lake Tower and DVC add-ons to resort areas like AKL villas bar area etc to have a look round for future reference, is this acceptable? not pool hopping or anything.

Thoughts, does anyone do this, anywhere you would recommend checking out?

At some point may consider DVC and don't fancy the DVC tour thing would just like to slot it in when I am near those areas. Fly out tomorrow from the UK, cant wait!!!

We resort hop a lot. Before I stayed in any value and moderate resorts I did it to check them out. What I do is just go to the bus stops and the first bus to a resort that comes, I hop on it. When I'm ready to leave, I just hop on the first park bus to come. I have visited every single resort this way.

Yes I have resort hopped a lot over the years but not so much to DVC locations, not sure what the rules are.

They are open just like the regular wings. In some of the resorts like BW it's even hard to tell the difference in the DVC and the regular room locations unless you know. Disney keeps some of the inventory in DVC and rents them just like regular rooms.

No special rules for DVC resorts, they're open to the public just as the other resorts are.

Ok great, I think the bar in bay lake tower is for DVC members only though is this right? you know the one that you get a great view of the fireworks from?

You can walk around with no issues at all. The easiest place for a look around inside a villa is at the Boardwalk near the Big River Grille - there is a sample 2BR BWV villa open most of the day so you can see a typical set up. The Boardwalk area often has entertainment (magicians/jugglers) in the early evening so maybe grab a funnel cake and get a sense of the vibe after you see the villa. (I also enjoy the sushi at Kimonos at the Swan resort at the Boardwalk.)

You can take the boat from Disney Springs to SSR or OKW to check them out. Stop in at SSR's Turf Club for a table service meal or try their quick service options. Same with Olivia's at OKW if you have any interest.

I don't think the BLT building is open for walking around, so that one may be better checked out virtually with HD youtube videos:

Sanaa is the table service restaurant in the DVC Kidani Village building (while the 5th floor at the old AKL building is all DVC now) so definitely go over to the AKV complex and check out the animals on the savanna and grab a meal if a menu looks interesting.
