We'll be staying at Pop Century but wanted to make sure that we can still take WDW's transportation to all the other resorts to check them out visually. Specifically we're wanting to see FW's petting zoo and campfire/sing-a-long/movie. Can we do that without having to enter any of the parks on that particular evening? We're hoping to do this right after we get down there on a Saturday afternoon but not go into any of the parks until the next day. Am I confusing anyone or do I make sense? :(

go to FW and see the campfire and zoo. We do this on arrival day too. We eat at Trails end do the campfire, water pageant and watch wishes from the beach. You can park at FW and bus into the campfire. No park admission is required for these activities.

Many Blessings
Lia

I haven't really tried resort-to-resort transportation, but I have always heard that it can be time consuming and takes planning ahead. I am thinking that it might be easiest to take your resort bus to MK and then take the boat to FW (wouldn't have to enter the park, but just walk from bus stops to the boat)...but am no expert in any sense...anyone have some ideas about the best way for getting from Pop Century to FW?

We will be travelling from Pop to the FW campfire in exactly 2 weeks from now - watching Monsters Inc. We will be getting a bus to MK then the boat to FW.

Hope we have better luck than last year - the movie was cancelled due to an approaching thunderstorm - we then got a bus from near the petting farm, headed to DTD and then a bus to our resort - this seemed more long-winded but didn't want to risk a boat in torrential rain and lightning.

The UG says that, in general, the best way to get from resort to resort is to take the bus to the theme park closest to you and then transfer to the other resort. This only works when the parks are open (or an hour or so after), and is a very bad idea if you're doing the transfer right at park close -- e.g., at MGM after fantasmic. Transferring at downtown disney is, it says, a very bad idea, because each bus stops multiple times there.

I guess this assumes you don't have a car while at WDW. If you do have a car, the pass the resort gives you to place on your dashboard will allow you to visit other Disney resorts without a hassle.

Holly,
The campfire program is open to all WDW resort guests. It generally begins around 7 p.m. during the fall/winter season and 8 p.m. after the time changes in April through the summer. It is held near the Meadow Trading Post in the campfire area. The program begins with a sing-along led by a Disney CM and a marshmallow roast around two campfire rings. You may bring your own marshmallows or buy them at the Chuckwagon (roasting sticks and marshmallows are $2). You may also buy pizza, hot dogs, candy, nachos, juice, popcorn, sodas, coffee, beer and other refreshments at the Chuckwagon. While this is going on, Chip and Dale make an appearance to visit with guests and sign autographs. The sing-along lasts about 40 minutes. Next, one or two Disney animated features, depending upon the season, are shown on a large outdoor screen. Seating is available in bleachers or on benches. There is also plenty of room to lay out a quilt or blanket. The movie schedule is posted at all comfort stations. In the event of rain, the sing-along is still held on the porch of the Meadow Trading Post.
You can find the movie schedule posted on the Camping at Disney World thread. They usually update it for the next month at the end of the current month.

Here are some other fun things to do at FW!:

Nightly wagon rides at Pioneer Hall at 7 and 9:30 p.m.- Cost $8 adults, $4 children. Depending on Magic Kingdom hours, there are sometimes special "Fireworks" wagon rides scheduled.

Private carriage rides - Cost $30/half-hour. Call (407) 824-2832 to reserve (reservations suggested, not required). Depart from Crockett's Tavern at Pioneer Hall between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. nightly. There are two carriages available; one accommodates four adults and two children, the other accommodates two adults and two children.

Petting farm featuring goats, pot belly pig, donkey, ducks, sheep, and chickens. This used to be Minnie Moo's home until she passed away.

Pony rides from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Cost $3

THanks! We are not staying at FW, so I guess the campfire is out for us!:(

This post makes me miss FW - We stayed there our first 3 trips to WDW - perfect place for families with young kids. I think it's a vastly under-rated resort.....
I think on my Birthday trip in April, we'll have to take a carriage ride & soak up some FW.

We are staying off site, but I thought it would be fun for DD(4) and I to do while the big kids go to DQ. We have PHP's tickets.
Thanks!
