Resort Game - Let's play

I think I remember that the pool at thr DI has a sauna. In case I'm right...

Which resirt had a wave machine installed off its beach that was turned off shortly after it opened because of beach erosion? FYI--the machine is still there.

OK, time to clean up some of these questions!
To my knowledge there is only one Disney Resort Pool with a sauna, what resort is that pool located at?
That would be Old Key West. It is located inside the lighthouse.
Which resort had a wave machine installed off its beach that was turned off shortly after it opened because of beach erosion? FYI--the machine is still there.
That would be in Seven Seas Lagoon off of the Polynesian Resort beach.
What is the motto of the Polynesian resort, and what does it mean?
Aita Peatea (ah-ee-tah-pay-ah) - "There will be another day tomorrow just like today".
What resort has a working jukebox located in one of its restaurants where you can select great oldie songs to listen to while you dine? I'll make it a two parter... What is the name of the restaurant?
The only one I'm familiar with is at the Dolphin Fountain in the Dolphin Resort. Is that the one you were thinking of, dvcdudes?

I'm going to wait to post any more questions until I get some confirmations.

Did we ever get confirmation that the Contemporary was called the Contempra in the late 8o's that just doesn't sound right to me. i know it was a few questions ago, I guess I'm a little slow. :)

Yes it was, I know the name doesn't "sound" right that is why they changed it back but it was my question and I KNOW it was called that. If you even listen to the old monorail narratives they say the Contempra not the Contemporary

Your good JamesD.
I think you got them all.
Yes, I was thinking of the Dolphin Fountain. We ate there on our last trip and the kids thought it was great.

Good Work!

No, Hakuna Matata came out after the motto for the Poly, nice try, though.

If GF doesn't have a sauna, is it Boardwalk?

/
Yes, James D, the mottos of the Poly is "Aita Peatea" which means, "There will be another day tomorrow just like today". Looks like you can ask that question now!!! Or perhaps you should ask 3, since you answered 3 correctly:)

OK, then!
What were the two previous names for the now closed, Discovery Island in Bay Lake?

I think one was Treasure Island but I don't know the other. Actually I'm not even sure about that one. I just think I remember something about Pirates.

One little side thought... Do you think they will change the name again since they renamed Safari Village in AK to Discovery Island?

Good Tuesday Morning!

JamesD's question is:

What were the two previous names for the now closed, Discovery Island in Bay Lake?

dvcdudes partial answer is:

I think one was Treasure Island but I don't know the other. Actually I'm not even sure about that one. I just think I remember something about Pirates.

Anyone have more info on this one?

The original name of Discovery Island, before Disney opened it for tourists, was Blackbeard's Island. It opened as Treasure Island in April, 1974, then it was updated and reopened as Discovery Island in April, 1976.
I don't think there is an official name for the island anymore, since it is closed. That freed up the name, Discovery Island, to be used at the Animal Kingdom.
I think dvcdudes should ask the next question.

Here's another unanswered question from almost three weeks ago:

In three different years, three resorts have opened in the same year. Can you name the years and the resorts??

I came up with 1997 (WL, Sports, Music) and 1971 (CR, Poly, FtW), but couldn't get the third. 1990 is a possibility if we allow Swan/Dolphin to count.

Also, I'm afraid I have to disagree with the "Contempra" question. I have WDW guidebooks from 1988 and 1991, and both refer to the A-frame resort with the monorail station as the "Contemporary". I could be wrong, but I've sure never seen any evidence of the name "Contempra".

JamesD is just TOOOO GOOOD. I think any question he might ask will stump me so I'll take him up on his offer for getting half of the answer (I knew it had something to do with a pirate).

Here goes (sorry it's not more challengeing):
At what resort will you find a restaurant where you can enjoy a New England style clam bake nightly.

That would be Cape May at Beach Club....

What is roaring fork and what resort is it at!

Cigar,

If you have them from 1988 - 1991 It would be called the contemporary it was changed in 88 or 89 (which I can't remember) but on my visits in 86 and 87 it was the contempra! I have asked my parents numerous times and when my parents visited in the early 80's it was also the contempra so the guidebooks you are looking at will say it was called the contemporary from 88 on because it was. It is my fault for not clarifying the years but I wasn't positive of the years it was named Contempra but I KNOW it was

Roaring Fork is the snack shop/fast food place in Wilderness Lodge. Waaaaa. I wanna go. This is giving me terrible withdrawls!

ok.. How many feet is the Tower of Terror building... and why?

Nancy

199 feet tall because any building or fixture that is 200 feet tall or higher requires a blinking red light at the top for the planes, and this would have taken away from the atmosphere of the Hollywood Tower Hotel.

Here's mine:

What disney fixture has the red blinking light on the top because it is 200+ feet tall???
