Hi All... Does anyone have any information or experience with Doctors/ medical services in your resort room?

The WDW website states-

Resort Hotel Services
In-room medical services are also available at all Walt Disney World Resort hotels. Simply touch “Front Desk” from your in-room phone for assistance, 24 hours a day.

Similarly, has anyone used the "Doctors on Call Service" based in Orlando?

I know there is an urgent care facility outside of Disney Springs, but was interested if in-room visits are still a thing

It is available, but it is based on your issue. So it has be something super minor. We had an issue when we were there and they called EMS and had them take us to ER. It wasn't anything crazy, but we ended up at ER. ER was great and we were in and out in 1.5 hr. Disney didn't charge us a dime for this which was really nice.

We’ve used it twice in our 25+yrs of WDW!
DH called front desk, at Dolphin & Poly, and both had doctors at our room within 30-45 minutes.
So nice to know you can count on that! :cloud9:
Only thing DH had to get a taxi for was picking up the scripts!

Yes, we used DOCS at WL when my DS had a skin infection. You can also have prescriptions delivered to your resort.

Have not had any recent experience. My son and I came down with something really nasty years ago and couldn't get out of bed to go to urgent care. We called the front desk of our onsite hotel and explained the situation- and they got the ball rolling. A concierge doctor came to the room, did an quick exam, wrote prescriptions, called them in, and arranged to have the medicine delivered to the room. The price tag surprisingly wasn't all that bad. With COVID happening you may need to do an internet search/make some calls to see if anyone is still doing it unless someone on the boards has had a really recent experience, though.

Back in 2007 I came down with something during our stay at SwanDolphin on Christmas Day. We called down to the Front Desk about the nearest ER since I figured most Doc in the Box locations would be closed. They had a Doctor in-house and came up to my room, had necessary tests to determine that I had the flu (oh joy) but she also had meds as well. Not cheap but not more then an ER visit and best of all it was fast and I didn't have to leave the room.

Wow, has this always been available? What about at POP? About 10 or 12 years ago my daughter had a raging ear infection that developed once were in Orlando. The front desk was quite rude and told me to take a taxi to an Urgent Care Center. I did, and the closest pharmacy from the Urgent Care center was across a major intersection. I had to carry my screaming child across 8 lanes of traffic (at a light of course). Or wait for another taxi. Any parent would gladly walk their child to get the help they needed so I did. While we were waiting to pay for pain meds and other prescription her eardrum burst in the waiting room. Instant release of pressure but then we had a leaking ear for the remainder of the trip. Then a taxi to get back to the resort. I simply could not believe that Disney did not have a better option and it sounds like they did, but it was not offered to me. Since I ended up paying out of network costs anyway, using an on site doctor would have been so much better.

We could have had our family doctor send a prescription but I was told that in FL at that time, pharmacies required original paper prescriptions. They would not accept a faxed or called in script. I traveled with a "just in case" antibiotic for year afterwards.

The entire experience was so bad that I made us go back to Disney 6 months later to replace the memory. I could not allow that to be my last memory of the place.

@DPgrlz I'm not sure if it's available at all resorts or perhaps more of the "deluxe resorts" - I've seen this service a few times but they were all at larger resorts that I'd say were along the lines of the Westin type of a resort. I have no idea if they are as popular as once were. I'd bet they are compensated but probably also some perks (free room, etc). I'm just thankful it was an option for me on that trip.

After a lot of phone tag- I found out they use the Medical Concierge group in Orlando and the front desk will help set it up! Thanks all for the replies!

My wife got a sliver of glass in her finger from the rough edge of a chipped coffee pot. They offered to call us an ambulance.

Years ago there was a stomach bug going around. My mom caught it and we were at WL. She was starting to get dehydrated, so my dad called the front desk. They sent paramedics up to assess her and sent her to the ER. The front desk gave my parents a voucher for a free taxi ride back. Twenty-four hours later a house doctor went to the room and checked on my mom. They were never charged a dime.
