Here is some of the pictures from our trip Nov/Dec. Staying at BLT. I just put them on my facebook so I have not yet put comments on them yet but it might help.
I am surprised there are so many complaints this year about crowds and weather. After looking at these photos, who wouldn't want to go in December. So festive and beautiful. We will be at WL next December. Can't wait to go. Merry Christmas everyone.
My DH and I will be staying on Disney property for the first time and Christmas time and will be staying at this resort. It looks so wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
The French Quarter is my FAVORITE moderate resort at WDW (2nd favorite next to the Wilderness Lodge). It is so quaint and quiet. It's also small & compact, so it's easy to get around. You can hear the soft dixie music playing in the background both in the lobby, but around the resort grounds as well. I love getting up early and strolling around the resort watching everything wake up and listening to the soft sounds. BEAUTIFUL!!!
The resorts are typically decorated not long after Halloween. Someone else can probably say for sure, but I know it's not too long, since the MVMCP start a few days into November.
I thought I would bump this thread up, I noticed that a lot of the pics in the very beginning of this thread won't come up, at least not on my lap top. I am trying to get in the mood to finish planning my Christmas trip and am hoping for some pics of BC/YC from last year which is where we are staying this year.
Does anyone know about when in November the gingerbread displays start going up? (we were there around the 15th last year when the Grand Floridian Gingerbread House opened for business, but it was already built and up the week before...)
We'll be visiting Nov 1-9th (Not So Scary Halloween on the 1st and Very Merry Christmas on the 8th with some Food & Wine scattered in there) and are trying to plan out our resort decoration hopping...
We did XMAS week 2010 in room 2080-by far our best trip and room ever. Doesn't have a ton of XMAS decor-but then again it doesn't really need it. Walked to MK for the XMAS parade a lot , and of course the castle lighting and snow on main street-just minutes away.
Too funny. I saw that quote and thought I had lost my mind and said we were staying at BLT this year. We did stay at BLT last year and I remember the morning when the fog was so thick you could only see the tops of the GF. It was eerily beautiful.
This year we are staying at BC so if anyone has any pics of BC from last year I would love to see them. The reason I want last year is because I noticed a lot of the resorts weren't as decorated last year as they had been in the past so I want to make sure that we have made the right choice.
OMG!! I'm getting so excited to be at disney dec 11-19th and see all the xmas things. Guess I'll need to be getting off my a** and pick some extra shifts at work, cause i know i'll want to buy some xmas things
Must see's are the resorts, Candlelight Processional, Osborne Lights, Jingle Jungle Parade. You will be there after the Very merry Christmas Party and usually, the week before Christmas MK does all the events (excluding the hot chocolate, and little things) so you won't miss any of the big things. The weather can be anything from really hot to really cold. We go every year and have experienced highs in the 80's and lows in the 30's. I wear layers -- start off with a t under a sweatshirt, mid day the sweatshirt goes, then comes back on in the evening. When my DM was still with us we put a blanket in the basket of her wheelchair and would wrap her up in it in the evening. We have been able to swim in the afternoons and wear wintercoats in the evenings. December in Florida can be anything.
