Resort Changers--The Saga Continues.....

Actually my Mom happened to see the Sugar Loaf lounge in December 2007, while my Dad and I were at a Hockey game in Tampa Bay. The only reason was at the time we had a reservation there in August 2008, so she figured why not ask to see it.

Good! :goodvibes

Happy Monday to y'all! Here's a little bit of Magic to start your day for any of you CR lovers. And if you aren't a CR fan, ya have to admit that this resort looks pretty cool from a distance;)...

Beautiful pic Heather! :goodvibes

Oh, that's a great way to start out a Monday, Heather! Thanks:goodvibes. I take solace in knowing that even when I'm wayyyyy over at the Poly, I'll still be able to see the CR:goodvibes. And, I'm excited that my monorail is finally starting to run through the Tower:laughing:

:goodvibes

Minnie&Nana and kaffinito....thanks for the information on the DVC points rental!!:thumbsup2 It's something we might need to look into. There's just a small problem....changing resorts 4 times will NOT be an option!!:scared1: Whatever will I do??!!! And....y'all say it's cheaper...what are we talking about here?? how much cheaper???

Heather:surfweb:

Honestly that depends on the owner and on the current resort discounts. Sometimes it's cheaper to go with a discounted room than with a DVC rental. Some owners will rent for $11 - $12 per point. Others are cheaper depending on their home resort and on the time of year. If you're going during a slow period, or find an owner that needs to use up their points, then it could be $9 to $10 per point. :)

:rotfl: Okay....I'm a bit slow...it's early!! I just realized what you were talking about...HELLO!!!....your ticker!
:thumbsup2

Glad you said that 'cause I didn't figure out what she was talking about! :rotfl:

Good Morning, RCer's!!

Heather, what a great way to start the day with that beautiful shot!! Thank you (I saved it to use as a desktop sometimes, if that's okay?:goodvibes) . As for cost and renting points - it depends how much the owner rents for and the time of the year. A great way to get an idea would be go to here (sorry I don't know how to just make a line!) http://www.dvcrequest.com/point_calculator.asp

Owners rent points for from $10 to $13 per point - so choose the resort, put in your dates and then calculate away (not based on his rental, but what you'd like to find)!! Wanted to add that payment varies according to the owner or if you use one of the rental companies like David's or the other I know. Some ask for full payment after the reservation is confirmed (which no longer takes weeks b/c confirmation is by email now so it can be minutes), some ask for a % at confirmation, then final payment 60 or 45 days out. Really all depends on the owner's rental process. Most use paypal for a 3% fee or a check. Again, all depends on the owner or rental company. Hope this helps! Feel free to email or pm me too. :goodvibes

Darn, with all the Meet plans sure wish I could be there. Had another Meet on the 19th I really wanted to make as well, but no way for me to get away mid/late August. Know y'all will have fun and don't forget to take a photo!! ::yes::

Have a great Monday!!!:grouphug:

You'll be there in spirit!

Morning everyone! Hope all my RCers had a great weekend. Our was pretty busy, but the good kind of busy. I need to lose 60 lbs in 87 days. Think I can swing it? :rotfl:

I'm super bummed I can't make the RC meet up :sad1:. I need to meet all my family that shares the itch to switch! :grouphug:

Like Karen stated, you will be with us in spirit!!

Hey, I finally managed to create my tickers!!

Hi RCers, back from MK yesterday. Busy at the park. Hot but NO RAIN. :thumbsup2 ..........We were able to do Jungle Cruise, PiratesCar, Riverboat, BigTMRR, HauntedM, PPan, BuzzL, PeopleMover and Monsters Inc. before the heat sapped us. A good day overall. :) ..........All that talk about Casey's did me in!!!! Pulled-pork dog for me and chili chesse dog for DH. ..........Speaking of food: Earl of Sandwich is the BEST BEST BEST counter service on property IMO. $5.99 is so cheap for that great tasty variety of sandwiches. Plus they do AAA an discount to boot.

Now, it is multi quote time:

It breaks my heart ... sadly I've been there too ... but we all will keep hoping and praying with you ... miracles happen every day.
Yes, me too. I guess 45 is about the end of the road for me. Done trying. And I try not to think about it.

What I like most about renting points, besides the value, is that everyone can have a different tkt. The dining plan (same for all) can be for part of the stay or you can have say QS for 3 nights and DDP for 3 ngts - does not have to be the same.
The biggest thing about renting points is that you do not have control over your ressie, the person that owns the points does.
Thank you both for the good information on DVC and AKL. Everyone I know who stays there just ADORES the resort. I love to visit AKL, but just never seem to pull the trigger on a resort ressie. I must do it one of these days on my quest to stay at all the resorts... And as far as DVC, great info. I'm sure it isn't as confusing as it seems at first once you get the hang of it. I'd like to start with a small number of points and try it out. Plus, it is another reason to HAVE TO go to DIS. :lmao:

So how about having one on August 22, in the morning, at DTD? :cool1:
I will be at DTD at T-Rex at 8pm on the 22nd, so I probably can't swing two DTD visits in one day since I'll be with DH, DN and her DH. :sad1: But I'll keep checking you guy's progress with a final date and time. Something tells me more changes may come...;)

Well it all came together yesterday and I was able to get an AKV studio for my DD and her friend's birthday celebration!! I am so excited - always wanted to stay at the AKL so this is the next best thing. It will be awesome!!!

Congratulations!!!! I'm so excited for you! It's ticker time!!!!!:mickeyjum

I need to lose 60 lbs in 87 days. Think I can swing it? :rotfl:
I'm with ya! Off topic, but last year I said I was losing 50 pounds by this August's trip to DIS. I got off to a VERY slow start, but I finally joined one of the $10 per month gyms in April. And I'm still going! :scared1: So far I've transformed fat to muscle more than losing. I may have only lost about 7 pounds on the scale so far, but I feel a million times better already. One pound at a time. That's all it takes. :thumbsup2 Oh well, maybe I'll hit my goal in August 2012. Stay positive. :cool1: BTW, a good friend of mine in NJ really lost 40 pounds in 6 months. And So simply: Elliptical at the gym only, and Nutrisystem meals. It's amazing. Now she's lost another 20 in the past six months.

Thanks, y'all, for all the great info on renting points....I'm going to check out some of the information and see what DH thinks about it. I may be emailing some of you if I get stuck and get completely confused!!

Heather

Glad to help, Heather! Email any time - it was a difficult decision the first time we rented, but now I prefer renting over buying because I don't like the annual dues and I like to stay at a variety of resorts...and sometimes changititis (sp???) must be honored.:rotfl:

I wish I could go back to the gym. I really do miss it but I was hit by a car twice in 09 (2 different incidents) so my injuries really make it difficult to work out. I've been downloading all different workout videos trying to find something that I can work with and so far the best has been the Winsor Pilates. I also got suckered into buying a Pilates chair off HSN last night. I like that I can keep it in my room and do it while the baby is asleep.

Didn't know this - thanks!! We tried EOS last year, and its good ... on the DP we love Wolfgang Puck Express ... for a counter service, its fantastic!!

Sadly, I could only swing the AM ... whatever works best for all is okay with me.

It really is not about the actual weight, but about eating healthy, exercising and ultimately ... feeling better!! Keep it up, you are doing great so far!! :thumbsup2

DD247: I know how hard it is to lose weight (I've put on about 25 lbs over 3 years ... sometimes I can't think how it snuck up on me!). I know the change of life does NOT help at all! Keep working and don't look at how much you have to lose ... just concentrate on eating better, and exercising and you will begin to feel better!

We were posting at the same time!! "Suckered" is too strong ... you were persuaded to get that Pilates chair to better your health!! :goodvibes And it fits perfect for you right now in your life.

Really sorry about your accidents. Did you go to rehab? If so, did they prescribe certain exercises to help you?

More off topic, but... I'm glad you are finding Pilates to work for you. I've seen your posts about your injury. Again, I'm right there with ya! I fell off a roof in 2005 and my life was changed forever. I still sleep on a couch every night because I can't lay flat on any mattress anywhere. Even WDW! Ugh.

It has taken me a long time to be able to do anything without pain. My discs are blown. But I am healing enough now to do the no-impact elliptical at the gym. I love stretching on the big balls. And pool exercises have been good for me now. Yoga makes me feel like a klutz because I'm so inflexible now, but gentle yoga feels good.

I know how discouraging it is. I was a "roller-blade queen" before my accident. Fit and trim. I am like a fish out of water nowadays but I am trying to remain positive after almost 6 years. I wish you all the best on your quest. I'm rooting for both of us! :cheer2:

I did go to therapy but only for a few weeks because their insurance cut me off. They say I don't need it and don't have any nerve damage or herniated discs...but they aren't the ones with the crippling spasms.

Oh boy someone as accident prone as me! I'm just happy to hear you're doing alright now and healing. I really loved the elliptical myself, but these darn knees can't handle it any longer. It's a shame too because I have one in the basement. After my accident I could barely walk and walking is something I absolutely love to do. I can walk now but I have intense anxiety about crossing streets so that's out.

I happened to flip on HSN last night and saw the chair and looked into it quickly and saw how versatile and low impact it is. It's also compact and great for any fitness level so I decided to splurge and invest in my health. :thumbsup2 In the meantime I'm working on the Winsor Pilates.

Hi Gang!

Hope all of you had a lovely weekend! :goodvibes

We have an overlapping date that might work for everyone (except pas130  but I'll get to that later.

So how about having one on August 22, in the morning, at DTD? :cool1:

We could meet at the Pin traders (which sounds good) or in front of the squirting Stitch at WoD? Or maybe meet in front of Ghiradellis to celebrate with ice cream sodas? (hint hint :lovestruc)

And as for pas130, I'm going to be staying until the 29th, and I know that CRRFFL is too, so how about having another RC Meet later on in the week? Like on the 27th or something? :yay:

Sounds good to me! I have no idea how to get to DTD from YC but I will try very hard to be there.

Wish I could loose 40 pounds! I might just try out her system. I'm tired of looking cylindrical. :headache:

Maybe we could meet in the evening of the 21st then?

Sounds good to me! I have no idea how to get to DTD from YC but I will try very hard to be there.

Or the evening of the 21st?

Easiest way to DTD from YC is to take the bus there. :goodvibes

I'm good with that:thumbsup2 OK done with my 4 day stretch of work...time to catch up...:grouphug:

Just a quick post to mention that I just posted something to the Poly thread and I thought of all of you RCs as I was writing it!

I hope everyone is well. I've been on my mixed-up summer schedule with DD now into week one of summer vacation. I'm going to try and catch-up when DD is at volleyball this afternoon:thumbsup2

I've been away from you guys for far too long :grouphug: but I'm pleased to say I've just had another 'little' change.

I've stayed true to my word and not changed my first 6 nights at the BC CL but after reading reviews of the GF SL recently my heart was saying 'return to my special place' i.e. BWI CL, soooooo I'm now staying my last 2 nights at the BWI CL, returning to the resort and CMs I love:cloud9:

Hi RCers. I'm off the my log cabin in NC mountains for 4th of July holiday for a cool respite. No computer and no internet and barely phone service... ahhh unplugged.
Have a great week and don't make too many changes! :hippie:

Enjoy! We are in Greensboro, so you'll probably not be more than a couple of hours from us. Safe travels! (how long is your drive from where you are in FL? Just wondering as we are going to drive down to look at areas on the Gulf Coast to move. Thanks!)

Moving? You're moving? Did I miss all this since I've been away from the thread for a few days? What else did I miss? I know I'm missing the meet since we depart the World on 8-5:guilty:. I can't wait to see all the photos:hyper:
