What true WDW Fan would get tired of looking at this??!!! Anybody homesick, yet?!

Heather

Good Morning Heather and All

Some people have a mirror on the ceiling over their bed, I would love to have that picture over my bed so it would be the first thing I saw when I woke up each day :goodvibes

DH and I are off bright and early Sunday morning for the Magic Kingdom for the day.
First stop...Haunted Mansion ... so I can see the new spooks.

We are going to wing it... no resort ressies are needed, and not one ADR was made.
This is too easy... I may spontaneously combust before I get there. :scared1:

Sounds like the best kind of Disney Day..............have fun!

Janet B - No did not call about the carriage ride just not sure about when we could fit it in, I hate to start shifting all my ADR's around again :lmao:

DD is working 3 hours of OT this morning, so I will have Sophia for a little while a bit later, then off to do some errands & Mass.:thumbsup2

Happy Sunday!!!:goodvibes

p.s. Janet, no news YET????

It's a rainy day here in Tennessee. Which means gives me time to surf the web :surfweb: and consider other options for our October trip. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

So I'm here once again to get my fellow Resort Changers opinions.

I am considering renting DVC points. I have always wanted to stay at AKL, so that's where I am looking.

Has anyone rented DVC point before? If so what was your experience? Also, what's are the opinions of AKL?

Thanks for helping me through this one! :grouphug:

I've often pondered this same option...renting points just makes me a bit nervous, ya know. I'll be interested to see what others have to say.

We've rented points 4 times - always from the DIS - twice from people we did not know and twice from the same DISer. We were very careful and made sure the DISer had been on the DIS for at least a few years and active on multiple threads. Will rent points in 2012, but this time from a friend. What I like most about renting points, besides the value, is that everyone can have a different tkt. The dining plan (same for all) can be for part of the stay or you can have say QS for 3 nights and DDP for 3 ngts - does not have to be the same.

Also, now there are a couple of companies (for lack of a better term) who handle points for owners and it is very easy and quick to go through them. I have a favorite, but cannot mention it as that one is not yet a DIS sponsor. I prefer one that does not require payment to check availability - though David's DVC rental here in the DIS is excellent.:thumbsup2

Lots of folks LOVE AKL - I can take it or leave it. Absolutely loved staying there but prefer a lighter decor.

Happy planning!:goodvibes

I rented a few times before buying into DVC. :goodvibes Both times were at AKL too. :)

The biggest thing about renting points is that you do not have control over your ressie, the person that owns the points does.

You make an agreement to rent points from them, put down usually 50% up front, then after you get a confirmation letter (either scanned in and emailed or faxed to you - takes about 2-3 weeks for this to happen) then you pay the other 50%.

There are no cancellations (usually) and no changing your ressie once its made. so for a points rental you need to make triple sure you have your dates, party size, and resort set. No easy feat for a RC'er! :)

As for AKL I've stayed there 4 times in Jambo House, and love it there. I had a value studio which is smaller than the regular studio by a few feet, and had a great pool view. I love the pool, Boma (buffet) and Jiko. I'm not hugely fond of the Mara, just because there isn't much there I can eat. But they do have Zebra Domes there! I wouldn't even consider staying in Kidani. I checked the place out and it just doesn't do it for me. :confused3

If you do stay there, ask for a room on either Zebra or Giraffe Trail in Jambo House. Both are close to the buses, lobby, pool, and dining. :thumbsup2

Hi Gang!

Hope all of you had a lovely weekend! :goodvibes

We have an overlapping date that might work for everyone (except pas130  but I'll get to that later.

So how about having one on August 22, in the morning, at DTD? :cool1:

We could meet at the Pin traders (which sounds good) or in front of the squirting Stitch at WoD? Or maybe meet in front of Ghiradellis to celebrate with ice cream sodas? (hint hint :lovestruc)

And as for pas130, I'm going to be staying until the 29th, and I know that CRRFFL is too, so how about having another RC Meet later on in the week? Like on the 27th or something? :yay:

A meet sounds like a great idea, however I can't say if I would be able to attend one. With my family sometimes our plans can change at the last minute, so we don't plan each specifc day like others like to do and etc. So far the only thing I have planned 100% is meeting some friends of mine on the 19th of August and chances are I will see them more then once. Plus I have another set of friends I plan to see, so all I can is maybe.

Maybe is good! :goodvibes

Besides, I'm planning on dragging you and your family to GF SL so you can check it out one day during your trip. :)

Actually my Mom happened to see the Sugar Loaf lounge in December 2007, while my Dad and I were at a Hockey game in Tampa Bay. The only reason was at the time we had a reservation there in August 2008, so she figured why not ask to see it.

Happy Monday to y'all! Here's a little bit of Magic to start your day for any of you CR lovers. And if you aren't a CR fan, ya have to admit that this resort looks pretty cool from a distance;)...

Oh, that's a great way to start out a Monday, Heather! Thanks:goodvibes. I take solace in knowing that even when I'm wayyyyy over at the Poly, I'll still be able to see the CR:goodvibes. And, I'm excited that my monorail is finally starting to run through the Tower:laughing:

I'm really behind on this thread, too (I was just posting to your thread) and have much catching-up to do. I hope everyone has a great day:goodvibes

Good Morning Heather

Minnie&Nana and kaffinito....thanks for the information on the DVC points rental!!:thumbsup2 It's something we might need to look into. There's just a small problem....changing resorts 4 times will NOT be an option!!:scared1: Whatever will I do??!!! And....y'all say it's cheaper...what are we talking about here?? how much cheaper???

Heather:surfweb:

:rotfl2: Well, you know we here to give support and suggestions on those ADRs if you like!

Heather: Loved the pix!

Trying to get my ticker up and running but got to leave for work ....

Well it all came together yesterday and I was able to get an AKV studio for my DD and her friend's birthday celebration!! I am so excited - always wanted to stay at the AKL so this is the next best thing. It will be awesome!!!

Just had to share with you'll ! :dance3:

Good Morning, RCer's!!

Heather, what a great way to start the day with that beautiful shot!! Thank you (I saved it to use as a desktop sometimes, if that's okay?:goodvibes) . As for cost and renting points - it depends how much the owner rents for and the time of the year. A great way to get an idea would be go to here (sorry I don't know how to just make a line!) http://www.dvcrequest.com/point_calculator.asp

Owners rent points for from $10 to $13 per point - so choose the resort, put in your dates and then calculate away (not based on his rental, but what you'd like to find)!! Wanted to add that payment varies according to the owner or if you use one of the rental companies like David's or the other I know. Some ask for full payment after the reservation is confirmed (which no longer takes weeks b/c confirmation is by email now so it can be minutes), some ask for a % at confirmation, then final payment 60 or 45 days out. Really all depends on the owner's rental process. Most use paypal for a 3% fee or a check. Again, all depends on the owner or rental company. Hope this helps! Feel free to email or pm me too. :goodvibes

Darn, with all the Meet plans sure wish I could be there. Had another Meet on the 19th I really wanted to make as well, but no way for me to get away mid/late August. Know y'all will have fun and don't forget to take a photo!! ::yes::

Have a great Monday!!!:grouphug:
