Resort Changers--The Saga Continues.....

Good Morning RCers!! I'm up bright and early...as usual:scared1: One day I'll be able to relax and sleep in....

...
:offtopic: My mom, sis and I came down to Savannah in April and stayed in the historic district (on Bay Street). We loved your city! In a certain way it felt like Disney as I was structuring our touring days around where we were going to eat!!

Savannah: My FAVORITE city in the US and one of my fave in the world.

Thanks! I think it's a great city, too. Next time y'all are down, let me know and I will be happy to show you around....seriously. If you like great food, there are a TON of wonderful restaurants in the downtown area...and a ton of wonderful Inns and hotels...and if you're use to paying WDW prices, then you won't think they are expensive at all!!!

...
I've done GF once, Poly twice and CR once. I'm not sure I could decide. BUT I KNOW I WOULD NEVER TURN ONE DOWN!
CR CL MK was awesome, a classic and ohhh, that monorail. :thumbsup2
GF CL was a perfect stay for Mom's 65th Bday.
Love love love Poly. My only dislike about Poly is the Great Ceremonial house reminds me of Grand Central Station near O'Hana breakfast and dinner hours. It really stretches the laid back vibe Poly strives to create. So I just avoid the GCH at meal times unless I have Kona or O'Hana ressies, and all is well in my World. :goodvibes

I agree! The GCH can be hetic, however, on this last trip to Ohana, they moved the hostess podium to the other side (over by the stairs)....much less chaos. You didn't have 100 people gathered around the entrance to Ohana and the bar area.

I have 6 kids total. I am guaranteed at least one grandbaby....right:scared1:

Wow!!! 6! :worship: I shall never complain again about only having 3! Grandchildren are DEFINITELY in your future...without a doubt.

Good Morning RC'ers! :goodvibes

I'm not even going to try to multi quote this morning, so here's a big :wave2: and I hope all is well with everybody! :goodvibes

So far it looks like a consensus (DTD) on where to have the RC Meet :confused3 but we don't have a good date yet. :) And I must say that I am shocked that we would actually agree on a place to meet! :lmao:

More later, I'm off the the cottage again today and I don't have internet there. :sad1:

Good Morning One and All

I will be watching to see where you do finally pin point the actual meeting place to be..............DTD is a big place, west side or marketplace? then the big question what restaurant or store. It might be as hard as picking a resort :rotfl:

Hope everyone has a good day. I did not sleep good last night at all, Disney on my Mind. I am thinking about checking to see if I can get a spot for the Haunted Carriage Ride, just not sure what day to try for.

Good Morning, RCers!!!

Hope y'all have a great weekend! :goodvibes

Tried to convince DD to move there instead of FL, but she doesn't feel the love - she prefers Charleston. They were going to move to St Augustine which meant I'd be close to Savannah, but now looking at the Gulf side. I live with them so will be going along.

Funny, DD is looking for the Cambridge (MA) of the southeast and I think Savannah would have been more like that than most other cities. Are you a Savannah native? Would do people live if not downtown (where buying a house would be very expensive)? We could not find regular neighborhoods/communities outside of historic districts. Thanks!

(we have stayed on West Jones and East President...and a bit further out on East 35th - nice loong walk to the River though)

Carefull what you wish for, Just saying.......I always thought my oldest would make me a grandmother early and just like you cautioned about it even putting condoms in their xmas stockings one year............ I had him when I was just shy of my 17th birthday.
We here I am today 58 yrs young and not one grandbaby and time is running out :sad1:

I felt the same way! There is hope for you yet!!:thumbsup2 I swore I was going to be the oldest first time grandmother! Finally, when I was 61 a grandchild arrived - and she will likely be the only one b/c DD was 37 when Sophia was born and this munchkin has been high maintenance...but who knows - there is always that mid life surprise baby...DD will be 40 next March.

OMG - how & when did I get old enough to have a child turning 40 next year?!?!

Good Morning RC'ers! :goodvibes

We've been in the Savannah area most of my life....except for the 5years that I lived in Orlando, worked for Delta as a Flight Attendant, met DH, then moved back home!...DH is an Orlando native. We live north of Savannah in the country...about 35 minutes from the downtown area. Lots of great islands around Savannah to live...Isle of Hope, Wilmington, Dutch...just depends on what you are looking for.

Charleston is GREAT, too...Mt. Pleasant area is nice. St. Augustine is another beautifully historic city, also. And look how close you would be to the World!!!:woohoo:

My DS who is left turned 41 this past January.......unbelievable :scared1: him and his DW lost a baby(miscarrage) a couple of years ago and she turns 41 in October so the chances are slim at best.

DH and I use to always talk about one day taking our grandbabies to Disney too :sad1:
I know you are going to have the best time taking yours there. :goodvibes

How is gracie doing?

:goodvibesI had to post this for all the Dis( and the Disney CM's) that jump to my aid with resort questions and info. Our latest vacation planning(trip #7),started back In Nov for our mnsshp trip, sept the 17th-the 27th(it was orgnaily the 20th to the 27th.
So here it starts,it started out all inocent 200.00 deposit and staying at POR after POP previos trips to POP. Then the trouble came. Thought why not go back to POP,we love It there right?,ok re book it. Then went thinking about the Delx, thought why not try that once,so re book for BWI,all good right, yep. Then,up graded to BWI CL, DxDP,hay if you are going to do it once lets go all the way. Then felt kind of bad running away from POR,we had not been there since our second trip to WDW and it was our fridst stay at the resorts. So of course i switched back to POR keeping the Dxdp.Save money and still happy, right?. Nope,my DS(now 18yo and for the frist time bringing his DGF) gave me a early fathers day presant and said to up grade to the contemp WOW tsaaalking about up gradeing!!, and we added the water parks and more option while we where add it.Done right???? nope. One more time the Family got involed once again, DM jump in and just offer(she Is not even going?,she just supports our DS and dad trips. Ok,she added 3 extra days and asked us if we wanted to change any resorts??,no right?,nope we said the Poly!!. So now we are book the 17th to the 27th of sept,DxDP.water parks and more, and the park hoppers and playing extra 4 rounds of golf.
So this a shout out snf s thsnk you to all who help me with my resort planning

Mt. Pleasant is beautiful, but costly - DD thought it about equal to the Boston area, where a small Cape style house goes for at least $415,000+.

We are definitely drawn to historic cities! DD does not really like the Gulf side of FL, but one of her best friends has lived there for years and that would be a plus for both of them. :thumbsup2 DD and SIL are have both been in corporate travel for about 20 years. Did you enjoy your time as a flight attendant?

Awe, guess it is less likely to have a baby at 41, but not unheard of...;)

Sadly, my friend's daughter had a few miscarriages, so at 40 they decided to adopt - several months into the process they found out she was pregnant! They waited on the adoption until their little girl was born, then the next year adopted a darling baby boy. Guess anything is possible.:thumbsup2

Gracie seems to be doing very well! Thank you.:goodvibes

That breaks my heart! Sorry to hear about that....miracles do happen every day, though:thumbsup2...we'll keep them in our thoughts and prayers.

Loved being a Flight Attendant!!! especially for Delta...it was a great company to work for...after 911, I took a 5 year leave of absence, moved back to GA, and had my 1st son....just never went back to flying. I do miss it sometimes, but my calling has been teaching:teacher: I guess what I really miss are the free flights!!!

Morning everyone! I'm stuck at work for two and a half more hours. Tonight is my first official night of working out. Today is my first day of eating extra healthy...and I'm starving!!! A hot dog from Caseys sounds so amazing right about now :rotfl:

Yes, even in the travel industry the perks are long gone. I've gone with my DD (years and years ago) for $99 first or business class to London on AA, to CA and other places...those were the days!

I taught pre-school for 20 yrs, then became librarian (be still my heart) and after school director - I miss the kids everyday. Love the energy being with them all the time. I care for my 2 1/2 yr DGD, but it's not the same. Also, back in MA we had several days off a year, plus Christmas break, Feb break and Spring break - what a horrible shock when we moved here and nothing but Easter break!! Maybe a they have a Christmas break here too - can't remember.

Morning everyone! I'm stuck at work for two and a half more hours. Tonight is my first official night of working out. Today is my first day of eating extra healthy...and I'm starving!!! A hot dog from Caseys sounds so amazing right about now :rotfl:

After 30 years and almost 50 Disney resort stays, I still haven't had a Casey's Hot Dog!!! We're never there at the rigth time - every yr I saw this time for sure...but still waiting. Sure would be perfect today!!:goodvibes

"Working out"? Hmm...what is that exactly????:confused3 :rotfl:

Hope the time at work flies by!!:goodvibes

Dani - good luck with the healthy eating and working out :thumbsup2

Christine - so very glad to hear Gracie is doing well still :goodvibes

Happy Weekend, all. Let's get right to the multi-quoting:

Great! We haven't been to O'Hana since last August so I am looking forward to the change. GCH is such a beautiful space it seems a shame to muddy it up with all that chaos. Thanks for the info. :)

More later, I'm off the the cottage again today and I don't have internet there. :sad1:
Enjoy. Sometimes it is a blessing to unplug. :cloud9:

Good Morning One and All

I did not sleep good last night at all, Disney on my Mind.
 At least you can't sleep for a good reason.

Good Morning, RCers!!!Tried to convince DD to move there instead of FL, but she doesn't feel the love - she prefers Charleston. They were going to move to St Augustine which meant I'd be close to Savannah, but now looking at the Gulf side. I live with them so will be going along.

Tonight is my first official night of working out. Today is my first day of eating extra healthy.
Good luck! Just keep moving is my motto. :yay:

I was dying for ANYTHING lol but a hot dog from Casey's just sounded extra delish. Guess what we're having for dinner tonight! :rotfl:

Dani - good luck with the healthy eating and working out :thumbsup2

Christine - so very glad to hear Gracie is doing well still :goodvibes

Thanks!

Good luck! Just keep moving is my motto. :yay:

It sounds so easy lol

Hi RCers!! I just got bumped off the DIS in the middle of multi-quoting ..urrggh !!! I'll try and recreate!

All my RC'ers are welcome to join us :grouphug: I didn't take DS until he was 3 and that's one of my biggest regrets. I can't wait to see her little face light up when she sees Mickey!

:thumbsup2 I do wish my two kids could have gone when they were younger (we did visit one day when DS was 7) ... but we did go in 2006 and had a wonderful time. It will be so much fun to take them so young ... enjoy!

I have 6 kids total. I am guaranteed at least one grandbaby....right:scared1:I am so happy (and nervous) for him:goodvibes
:lmao: !

6 ?? I say you have a very good chance!

And disneydreamin247 is right in Staten Island! We keep trying to plan a lunch date at Houlihan's....one day......

Yes I did notice how close DD247 is!! Every once in a while we go into NYC (ljust like last weekend for the Harry Potter exhibit). DISmeets outside of Disney would be so much fun as well!! If you two would like company on one of your Dismeets, let me know, I'll love to join you.

I managed to "obtain" some workout DVDs last night for free ;) so I'm hoping to start those either tonight or tomorrow, but most likely tomorrow since I'm already exhausted. I'm just hoping my knee can keep up with the workout. The knee I landed on when I got hit the first time shifts around inside the socket (yes it feels as gross as it sounds) and if I move the wrong way it hurts pretty badly. I'll just have to modify some of the moves if need be because I can't just NOT workout.

Hope your workout went well. I've been telling myself I have to do the same ... my friend keeps asking me to do this early morning class ... called Dr. Drill. I'm a little nervous as I'm out of shape, and it sounds so intimidating!

Good Morning RCers!! I'm up bright and early...as usual:scared1: One day I'll be able to relax and sleep in.....

I can't sleep in either ... funny, when I was younger (before kids) I loved to sleep in ... now, no matter what, I'm up early every day even on weekends.

Heather, I will let you know! We really enjoyed our trip and have talked about going back. We went to the Playhouse and caught the show the Savannah Tenors - they were fabulous! (Yes,, the restaurants were good, prices not bad and MUCH easier to get in!!:)

Okay, I've had a Casey's dog ... twice!! Christine, in all your trips, not ONE?

DD247 - Have to tell ya that we were watching the "how its made" show and it was on hot dogs ... makes you think twice about having one. Of course you know I will forget ALL about that show when I bite into my next hot dog! :rotfl:

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Hopefully I will have a for-real ticker - soon!!!

DH and I are off bright and early Sunday morning for the Magic Kingdom for the day.
First stop...Haunted Mansion ... so I can see the new spooks.

We are going to wing it... no resort ressies are needed, and not one ADR was made.
This is too easy... I may spontaneously combust before I get there. :scared1:

Good morning to all the RCers! Thought I would start your day off right with....
