Resort Changers--The Saga Continues.....

:happytv:

I'm still in the "no-change" zone. What are you up to today WDWKOOK?
No, I lied...I was thinking of changing my 2012 ticker to November and to the WL. I'm trying to hold off until AFTER this trip first:laughing:
Well, other than NOT changing, it was a busy day for me (up until now). Up at 5, worked-out, mowed and trimmed for the first time this year and cleaned the house.

Did you have to work? I don't know how you juggle working and raising all those cute kiddos. Your DH is a very lucky man.

So, now you're considering a T'giving stay instead of Christmas? I'm all for that:thumbsup2

DH agreed that I should change back to WL/CL. With all the exterior renovation/painting going on for the rest of the year at the BC, the thought of staying there for a week gets less and less appealing. Plus, that "BC - not impressed" thread on the resorts forum didn't help convince me to stay there:rolleyes1.

So what does it mean that I just tried to change my BC reservation back to WL/CL (my original reservation) and there is no availability with my military pin? Is it a sign? Only the Honeymoon suite is available, which would be great if there was a sleeper sofa or bunk beds in there. But, I'm guessing it's a room for two - and for good reason;).

I even tried to extend the CR, but there's no availability there past our 5 nights. Argh.
I read those same things you did and honestly that stuff doesn't bother us. Although in the past when we have stayed at the Contemporary it was during the major renovations to the lobby, 4th floor and when they were building Bay Lake Tower which all happened a few years ago. So if they are doing work on the outside of the Beach Club I say that's better then the inside.

Now I will also admit there have been a few times that I might have questioned our choice to stay at the Beach Club, however once again I tell myself not to take everyone's bad reviews so seriously and that before we decided to stay there it was our best choice. Before we stayed at the Polynesian in December 2007 there was several threads saying how bad it was, however we never experienced anything which others mentioned. Plus for us it's a short 4 night stay and if it wasn't for the 35% room only discount we wouldn't have thought about staying there.

Only 3 more days, Kaffinito! Are you packed yet?

I thought of you when I saw that thread. It doesn't help it's still on page 1 either. Something will open up, hang in there:hug: I was on the BC photo thread earlier looking for pics of the 2 bedroom suite (sleeps 7-2 adults 5 kids-that's 7:rotfl:) but couldn't find any. I am thinking that's not very Xmas-y though. WL/CR it will be, for today. Not budging on the summer trip, no way:cloud9: But then there's rumors of discounts coming......:rolleyes1

kaffinito must be packing, hopefully disneydreamin247 is napping:goodvibes and LillianGracey is still working on the TPV room.

Well, they won't actually "hold" them for you. Just email them to let them know that you'll be needing to purchase them and they will advise you from there. When you check-in on the 12th floor, they will sell them to you. But, I've never actually done this, so email them and let them know what tix you need and they'll tell you exactly how it works.

BTW, I'm glad you didn't mind Christopher Walken:happytv:. I can't believe at such a young age you know about The Continental and his "champonya". I didn't know you are from Blagoland! I was born in Chicago, but grew-up in Bloomington, IN (not IL). DH grew-up in Highland Park and his mom lives on The Drive (LSD).

All right! I will send them an email and ask what I need to do.

I love him! He is so funny! :rotfl: I was introduced to The Continental when I was 15 or 16. My friend had a "Best of Christopher Walken" SNL DVD and we watched it and I fell in love with him. He is just too funny!

And yes. I am unfortunately from Blagoland. :sad1: I was born at the Highland Park hospital, but I lived in Skokie for the first 4 years of my life (I had an Aladdin and Jasmine birthday party for my 4th birthday) and then I moved to Buffalo Grove and lived there for 4 years and then moved to Arlington Heights and I've been living there ever since, but I've moved to a different house since then. You should come visit me if you ever decide to visit your your mother-in-law. :rotfl:

I may give up on the TPV. I called this morning and nothing. :'(

Haha I was posting at the same time. I was thinking about the week before Thanksgiving, before it gets too cold. Worked til 11p, but got out at 1a:eek: Half day for parentteacher conferences, so it's a no nap day. Off til Saturday, it's all good. Luckily I am not allowed to touch a lawnmower, DH is a perfectionist with the landscaping. No complaints here. But he just seeded and I want to go out to play. It's a beautiful day here, definitely grilling for dinner.:thumbsup2

Watching the crowds and the posts the week before Thanksgiving and two weeks after were looking pretty great crowd-wise. :)

Well, I saw some of the photos of all the machines in front of the balconies and TeenaS (the BC greeter) mentioned that some guests have been displeased with all the construction right in front of their window/ balcony so they've asked to be moved. And now the BC talk is getting heated on the BC/YC thread:sad2:. In bold red letters, TeenaS (the BC greeter) told someone NOT to stay at the BC if they have doubts. Well, I have doubts so that's probably why I focus on the negatives more than the positives. Some folks take it very personally over on the BC/YC thread when someone doesn't like the BC and I don't know why:confused3.

Just curious, why did your folks book BC instead of YC?

Have you considered for your next, next trip making a cash reservation for a DVC villa, like BLT?

All right! I will send them an email and ask what I need to do.

I'm probably much more likely to run into you at WDW than Chicagoland. DH hates that area and basically refuses to go back. It's been years since we've been back. But, MIL loves all the hustle and bustle and high taxes:scared1:

Let's see, my cousins lived in Skokie and DH went to high school in Mt. Prospect, right next door to you. Do you go to Woodfield much? We used to go there before we got married - 24 years ago:laughing:

I think club level was meant to be for you and Gramma;)

It would be much less crowded before T'giving. Can you take the kiddos out then? If so, I would definitely go then instead.

When do you get any sleep? Seriously, I worry about you driving home and falling asleep at the wheel. Since you're off tomorrow, try and get a good night's sleep.

:rotfl: But you can come to the suburbs! They aren't that bad! Prospect was one of my rival schools. I went to Buffalo Grove High School. I also go to Woodfield often. It's a 10 minute drive for me if there's no traffic. lol

I hate the city. Except for the Field Museum and the Aquarium. Those are my favorite things about Chicago and my family grocery business. If it weren't for my dad working for the Chicago Sun-Times, I would probably be living in Missouri because my mum's from there.

Awe thanks! I think it's a sign that we are meant to stay club level for my very special 21st birthday. :lmao:

Honestly we like how the Beach Club is more brighter and we also like their theme more then the Yacht Club.

Now as for what you said about having doubts about stayng there which are valid, I try to look at things like this. Once in a while there will be a time on here when there is more negative focus on one specific resort, this time it happens to the Beach Club. Now the construction happening outside is a valid reason for not wanting to stay there anymore and I totally understand that. However sometimes I say people have such high demands when staying at any WDW Resort that if one minor thing doesn't go their way it can spoil their whole experience staying there. For example not getting towel animals or a room request which we know are two things that not everyone will get. So I say in a few weeks there will be another multi page thread on the resort board where someone didn't like another location.

Finally I know you have also stayed multiple times at the Contemporary and among the Deluxe Resorts they seem to get a lot of bad reviews when it comes to their lack of a in your face theme or the conventions they host. However I know you don't let those reviews bother you and when I read them I say ok more room for us the next time we choose to stay there.

I see, you and your family like the theming better at the BC.

Well, I guess there would be even less room at the CR if more people chose it, but frankly, those conventions seem to book-up everything way in advance. All other Deluxes seem to have good availability in July/August, except the CR and it's been that way since at least January.

Oh, you're right that we could always find a negative post about every resort - so true. I guess I end-up always comparing all the other Deluxes to the CR. There are features about the CR which I appreciate and then I compare those positive (to us) features to the other Deluxes.

For example, everything is in one building at the CR which we love. The monorail runs through it! They have a quick serve which we enjoy. The pool area never feels crowded and has shady seating areas. It's located in the back of the resort making it feel more secluded and it's right next to Bay Lake:love:. The rooms and the public areas are in a style we prefer, including the way the bathroom is set-up and it has those extra large safes which I've only seen at the Poly. And the great walkway to the MK. (Are you more excited about the CR, Hannah and pas130?)

I know that the CR is sort of one of those love it or hate resorts and there are also some things I'm not crazy about there, but since it's our favorite, everything gets compared to it.

CR Vs. BWI

The BWI seems such a completely different "feel" from the CR that I'd love to know what you love better about it AND what you like better about the CR. This would help me a lot since we both love the CR, but you also seem to love BWI, which I've never considered until DH said "book it" last weekend:confused3

Bring on the awesomeness of CR! I'm totally stoked! :woohoo:

I think the BWI is lovely. But I have a problem...I am in LOVE with MK! The castle brings tears to my eyes, LOVE IT! And the CR, well lets just say I can't think of negatives for me at least. I have booked BLT (3rd or 4th switch dunno), but I was bitten by the CL bug. And I doubt staying at Sugarloaf will help. I also love the Poly, but I keep finding reasons to switch to somewhere else. IDK, WDWKOOK I don't need much convincing to get excited about CR.

Then there's WL, I love the woods, and it really seems to have a coziness.

I've stayed at BCV, and my DH didn't care for the theme. And they didn't like SAB. It was too crowded for them I think. It was nice, just not our thing. I guess because of that I get worried they won't like GF.

You ladies are the best, and I am glad we have this thread where you can express your opinions and ask questions without all the flaming.:goodvibes

kaffinito I can't believe you are packed, that's awesome.

WDWKOOK My DH says the same thing about my lack of sleep, and worrying about me falling asleep at the wheel. He doesn't sleep well either when I am not home. I am slowly transitioning into a 2nd shift part time spot, so it WILL get better. Thank you for caring, really, you're a sweetheart:hug:

I really feel like I have friends here, and I think of you and all of our upcoming trips often. Sorry, I'm emotional today IDKW. OK, thank you for letting me vent:grouphug:

I can email them and ask them to hold two 4 day park tickets for us for when we arrive?

@disneydreamin247: I would buy them from UT, but I don't want to worry about forgetting them at home which is why I'm wanting to buy them at WDW. lol

I've never forgotten an UT ticket, but I've forgotten my AP a few times....and destroyed it in the rain. :rolleyes1

We were indeed sleeping!

WL does sound good.... :rolleyes1

Honestly the thing we love most about the BWI compared to the Contemporary is their Club Level service and that's what made us return there a second time in December 2010 and a third time this coming August. Like I said before their Club Level Cast Members are the same and they don't have the turn over of new Cast Members always working in the lounge, the way the Atrium Club keeps getting new Cast Members working up there. There was also the personal touch like how I mentioned JJ from the Innkeepers Club who remembered that my Mom liked to drink Sprite Zero and he got it for her during our trip in December 2010, when we didn't ask for it or request it from their IPO department. We also like their lounge a lot more and that with their Deluxe Club Level Rooms how they all come with the Boardwalk View. During our last stay there one night this was left in our room as welcome back for being return guests, which we never got at the Contemporary after so many Club Level stays there.

IMG_1459.jpg

Finally when I asked my parents if they like the Contemporary or Boardwalk more they both said the Boardwalk. So if that doesn't speak of how much we liked it after so many stays at the Contemporary because they left a great impression on us.

You are so right about that. Just wait for it, and it will come. Remember last summer when everybody was bashing the GF? First it was over snobbishness, then over the refurbishment and how ugly it made everything look, then it was the food at Gaspy's.

It all cycles around all the time. The only constant is that most everyone bashes the values. ;)

First of all, You are such a sweetie! And I agree with WDWKOOK - I hope you get some sleep tomorrow. :goodvibes

As far as BCV vs GF, they are totally different animals. I think of BCV as a sterile, watered down theme, and the GF as an explosion in a Laura Ashley inspired decorators shop.

Plus, the pool atmosphere is vastly different, and the overall experience is a lot different too. I found GF to be very relaxed and casual, unlike the hectic frenetic pace at the BC. :goodvibes

We were indeed sleeping!

I can't believe you're leaving us soon! :(

I am so glad you got some sleep! I hope you get a lot more. :goodvibes

And I'm not leaving - see? I started a PTR in my siggy so I could post there as well as in my LTR when I get there. :teeth:

Joining in! :cool1:

After many and I mean many changes: AKL Pool View, Contemporary Them Park View, Coronado, Caribbean, POR, and POP, I FINALLY got the one I wanted.....

POFQ Oct. 27-Nov. 3!!!!! I've been wanting this one for three years!!!!

We have always liked the food from Gasparilla's Grill & Games. Even when we stayed at the Boardwalk Inn we still drove to the Grand Floridian so we could eat there.

I was doing just fine with my choices until I looked at some WL pics:rolleyes1 Now I want to change from AKL! It looks so beautiful there, I like everything about it, plus the boat over to MK.....hmmmm....decisions...decisions...
