Resort Changers--The Saga Continues.....

I NEED HELP!

So. Now that I am a DVC owner, we had to cancel the Poly :sad1: so I could book SSR. Looks like we will be at SSR from August 27-August 31st. Then on to BLT (God willing I get my dates!) for Sept 1 - Sept 4th (checking out on the 4th). That will give us 8 days at WDW.

HOWEVER - My son's 17th birthday is August 26th. So I would ideally like to arrive on August 25th and check into SSR on August 27th.

So far I have thought of booking:

WL Woods view Bunk bed
Poly GV
or OKW Studio.

So ladies (enablers), what would you do? Book two nights and then check into SSR (making it a 10 day trip and ticking off DH who thinks that 2 or 3 days should be plenty) or just leave well enough alone and just do SSR and BLT? :confused3

I think I need to join this thread.

We are booked at WL but I'm rethinking it bigtime. Worried about the designated smoking areas not being very accessible. Seriously considering changing to my first inclination, which was CSR. BUT... hate the thought of losing the boat to MK, the theming... sigh.

Not sure what to do. We will not smoke outside of DSA's obviously, so we WILL comply with rules wherever we end up... the question is, will complying with those DSA's at WL be more hassle than the resort is worth?

OMG I need help.

Hey Kaffinato, congrats on your new ownership:thumbsup2 ! Could you move up your trip so that you arrive Aug. 25 and stay for 8 days - checking out Sept 2 instead of Sept 4? Would that increase your odds of get BLT for the moved up dates? What about getting BLT for Aug. 25 - 27, then SSR for the remainder, well that might shorten your trip, probably not what you want but might make DH happy? Of course not on your list, but there is always GF :rotfl: - ok, that's where I want to stay next :rolleyes1 . Since it's your son's birthday where would he want to stay? Maybe that's the way to add those extra days in, afterall turning 17 and staying at Disney what a great gift! Keep us posted!!!

At this point Ben doesn't really care where we stay. He would be happy with Poly, WL, or POR.

Kids - they have their priorities all screwed up! He thinks WDW is all about fun, whereas we know it's all about getting the "right" resort!

I wish I could just stay at BLT for most of the trip, but the resort doesn't open up until Sept 1st! :scared1: So I have to try for a few days there once the resort opens, because I won't get to back there until August of 2010. Darn it! I want my Poly!

Maybe I could compromise and arrive after Ben's birthday (I'll just hand him birthday cash) and then my dates will work out fine. (And maybe I'll sneak an extra day at BLT ;) )

If the DSA's at WL are set up like the ones at AKL it shouldn't be too bad. Besides, you can always request an area nearest the DSA. It can be kind of a pain though to hike all that way there and back for a cigarette. The best resort for smokers IMHO is POFQ. They had a lot of DSA's and they were very well placed.

Guess I didn't realize the opening for BLT is Sept. 1 You know that the reason we are now at the Poly is because originally we booked the NEW club rooms at CSR but they weren't ready, (well I think Disney decided to pull this category from their line-up) but the point is with any new opening there can be delays. Anyhow, would hate to see you disappointed if BLT falls behind schedule since you can't get back out until Aug 2010. Any chance you could reschedule your trip to get a full week at BLT?

I like the way you think! I'll play with the dates and see what I can come up with! Thanks! :goodvibes

Oh, and 8 days for you!!!

I completely empathize, changed from Coronado to Floridian, after 4 days, think I will stop right there.:rolleyes1

Ok i dont feel so bad now but... it did take me 4 days to morph into a changer! Originally Coronado and I could just ummm feeeeel th GF calling my name. It has done so for the last 20 years since I first saw it in the glimmering Fla sunlight form the monorail. Now I have finally given in.:worship:

Wow!!! I'd love to stay at the GF this year!!

I have to wait till my wedding in 2011 though - sadly with all the saving I just can't afford it. :(

I hear the calling too:rotfl: and how funny because originally we were at CSR too. , but at this point I think it's probably too late for us to switch since, nothing is available on our dates, and we are booked LCV at the Poly, which ain't so bad:lmao: . I have stayed at neither, and they both look great! Can't wait to report back!

Well I just got a very sad phone call. My sister (who was going to "crash" our trip) just called. Her husband had a heart attack last night and it doesn't look like she will be able to join us, as he needs to recover. There is not much I can do, since I live in Ohio, she lives in NM and currently he is in a hospital in No. Carolina. Please keep her and their family in your thoughts and prayers. I will still take my kids as originally planned, but right now, I am feeling a huge loss that my sis won't be able to join us and I'm worried about my BIL. :worried: It's hard to be excited when something like this happens. Thanks for listening!!

Oh no! I'll keep your family in my prayers.

I just spoke to my niece. My BIL is making a strong recovery and it's not as bad as we originally thought. My sis is with him and most likely he will be released next Thursday, so they can fly home. Now, it's selfish of me to still want my Sister to join us since I know she will want to stay with her DH, but I understand (and I know you understand me still wanting her to come, even though her DH just had a heart attack - what am I thinking!). Anyhow, thanks for the good thoughts and prayers. Knowing he is alright has lifted my dark cloud ! :grouphug:

Where is everybody? I need you :rotfl2: ! Dare I say it, but Club rooms just opened up at GF:beach: . I think my kids was be majorly disappointed if I switched, but I can't help myself, since I really don't know when we will be able to get back there. Should I stick to the Poly, lagoon view, club level or switch to GF -club. HELP! What is wrong with me, why do I keep wanting to switch? When I was at CSR I really wanted the Poly, now that we have it, I want GF - seriously I need help:sad2: !

If you make a decision and stick to it then the planning will be all done and what fun would that be. :rotfl2:

I have made a partial decision: if I stay at a mod, it will be CBR or CSR.
If I stay at a deluxe it will be WL or Poly or CR or GF or BW.

If I don't do the dining plan then I will stay at the Dolphin using the teacher's rate.

Finally, if they make me an offer that I can't refuse (this happened 2 years ago) at OKW then I will maybe take it....:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I've made a lot of progress. The worst part is that I sometimes change my mind multiple times as I'm reading the DIS.:goodvibes

Poly, lagoon view, cl. Unless the cl room is in the main bldg at GF, it's totally not worth the switch!

BE STRONG!!! :)

Ummm, ok.... Exactly which definition of "progress" are you using? :lmao:
