Resort Changers--The Saga Continues.....

No one in my family wants to share my Disney excitement either. I sometimes use bribery - I'll offer to take one of the kids out to dinner if they'll let me talk about Disney.

I also have pages of notes. I have the price for our trip and then I have the cost if I get a 40% off code so I'll be prepared if I get a pin...:cheer2:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I do the same thing! I tell my youngest that if I can talk Disney with him for a while he can have a special snack! :lmao:

I have an excel spreadsheet with embedded cells for regular rack rates, the rate with my AAA discount, and the rate with a 40% discount! Now that is truly pathetic, I really need to get a life! :badpc:

Well, I ahd originally made a ressie at Cont with the 4/3 deal, then changed to POR to save some money, then to 2 rooms at ASSP. Finally I have rented points for a 5day stay at BWV, with one weekend night at ASSp and a weekend at POR- kind of crazy! I promised my husband that I will be in charge of all the packing/unpacking. I am excited to see 2 new resorts that we have never seen. I will not be changing again this trip. I am really looking froward to this trip.
kim

Now that sounds like a good plan! If you do switch, or yearn to switch again, please let us know so we can enjoy it! :goodvibes

Today is D Day! Well the great news is that we leave today right after lunch! Reports are that is it cold, but not too crowded. :hyper: . We arrive MCO @ 6:15, so figure we will be at the Poly by 7:30 and have our first ADR @ 7:55 @ O'hana's!!! Too bad we couldn't get there earlier, since Mk closes @8:00! Believe it or not, my teenage son wants to just relax around the hotel - doesn't he realize this is Disney:sad2: ? Oh, I am so excited. Doing the yippee skippee dance right now :cheer2: :beach: pixiedust: ! If I don't post later - I promise to make lots of posts when we return. PS I want all the details on any changes or switching made while we are gone :rotfl: !!!

Oh, you can't imagine how happy I was to find this thread! It's like having a mysterious disease, and then stumbling upon a diagnosis and a support group to go along with it! What do you know? I am suffering a common ailment!
I am a newbie to all this WDW stuff, planning my family's first trip, and trying not to make too many rookie mistakes (thank goodness for this board!)
We originally were going to stay at Shades of Green, but found out about the 40% off for Military, and switched to POR. After a bit of research I began to think my family would love the WL, so I switched to that. Then we found out that some of my husbands family was going the same week we were, we added someone to our party and switched to the GF! Now I know I should be feelin' all lucky that I get to stay there, and I am sure it is lovely, but I really, really wanted the WL, so now I check everyday to see if a villa that is under a quarter million dollars a night opens up...no luck so far. I haven't given up on my sweet kiddos releasing lady bugs in the morning (had to give up the whole flag family fantasy. Dang!) so now I am thinking about 3 nights in a cabin at FW (wanna' roast marshmallows with Chip & Dale) and three nights at the Poly (ladybugs and a volcano pool? Yes please!) Yikes! Does this ever stop? How do you choose???

Okay guys I am freaking out! I have already changed my resort once from POR to CBR Pirates room. Well....I couldn't sleep last night so I thought I would just check out some other alternatives and we can get a Fort Wilderness cabin for just $335.70 more or a room at the Contemporary for just $628.16 more! DH is leaning towards the Contemp. since it's so close to MK where we spend most of our time but I'm not sure. Then again, I almost feel like we should take advantage of the 4/3 deal and spring for a deluxe. If I could get the same price at the Poly, I would do it in a heartbeat, but I'm not crazy about the Contemp. Can anyone who has stayed there share their likes/dislikes?

Well, we don't actually choose until just before we leave, (or rather, we change way too often!) that's why its called the Resort Changers thread!! :lmao:

My fantasy is staying at the WL and taking the boat to MK from there. I have no idea why the thought of doing the same thing at the Poly doesn't thrill me as much. :confused3 The other one revolves around a non-alcoholic large drink in a decorated coconut at the Volcano Pool. :beach: One of my other fantasies is lounging on the balcony of my two bedroom villa at OKW. :cloud9: * Sigh *

Anywhoo - glad you found us! :goodvibes

Now you know what we mean by Disney Math! :teeth: The lure of the different resorts and the "just only's" sneak up on you and before you know it - you are a Switcher with a bad case of changeitis! :)

:sad2: never stops BUT WE LOVE IT ::yes:: Like Kaffinito said, you don't stop you just kinda run out of time and stay where you've last chosen, like musical chairs....:goodvibes What generally happens is you have about three places that you REALLY can't choose between and finally you run out of options because there are no rooms left in the other two choices that either fit your budget or your family. We stayed at WL and I REALLY loved it. Something about the boat and the rustic feeling. I think the difference between boating from WL and boating from Poly is that at WL you are secluded and it's almost like you emerge from out of nowhere and suddenly in front of you is the castle.... You're literally off in the wilderness one minute and at the MK the next. It's like two vacations in one. It was a pleasure returning after a long day at a park or two, to your pacific northwest lodge. OMG....Now I"M thinking of changing back to WL..... :faint:

Welcome to the family. :grouphug:

Hello my name is S&K's mom and I'm a resortaholic!

I'm thinking it takes way too much time to all CRO (all those questions before you even get put on hold) to even get a live person to change your reservation.:sad2: I've been known to call to book the Boardwalk but by the time I get a live person, I have already changed my mind again and booked BEach Club. And just hearing the Disney music puts the Magic Kingdom on my mind which means the MK resorts start calling my name so I take a ride on the monorail in my mind through all of them. I guess what I'm saying is that DISNEY IS AN ENABLER to my constantly shifting reservationitis:joker: If people like us could have our own hotline then maybe we' change less.:confused3 Or maybe we'd call more often and change more often:rolleyes: See, these are the things I think about in the wee hours of the morning...how to change my reservations more efficiently:crazy2: In fact, I am just now realizing that we all probably know at least as much as lots of the CMs at CRO...we should just have direct access to reservations on our home computers(I'm talking ability to use PIN Codes, book multiple rooms, put in requests...heck even specific room assignments):cheer2:

I just booked for this August. Over the last two weeks, I've moved the vacation from June to August, switched from package to room only, moved from BC standard view to AKL savannah view bunk beds, to BCV studio, then split the stay between BC water view and BCV studio, then changed the split stay to AKL CL and BC standard view. Oh, and added a day. Still up for consideration is changing the BC portion to something on the monorail. Because I'm tired of choosing a hotel based on the other two vacation-ers requests when I'm the one who does everything. I should stay wherever the heck I want, right? :thumbsup2 All this in January and the stay isn't until August. I can't even imagine how many times it will change over the next 200 days, LOL.

So how bad is it that I already have this affliction and I have yet to even go to WDW??? It doesn't mean I have a more serious case does it? Is it going to be even worse when I re-visit next year???
I just watched the planning DVD, and now I am more confused then ever! Should I do half at the Boardwalk or Beach club to be close to Epcot and HS (and the keister koaster looks super fun!) and then the other half at the Poly or GF? Or do I stick with the half at FW cabins followed by the GF or Poly? Then again I could do three nights at POR and three nights at a deluxe room in the WL that sleeps 6, 'cause for some reason I have a huge sappy crush on the WL.... (Disney is proof of Love at first sight, and to be technical I haven't even seen it yet! Sheesh!) It just makes it so much worse knowing that this might be the only year I am eligible for the 40% off, and we are by no means wealthy, so I want to get the most for my money!!! Any advice for a fledgling resort changer????

I switched from POP to POFQ because it was only $50 more a night. I'm becoming a resortaholic. ::yes::

Yep, that's usually how it starts. A budget vacation at one of the values then for just "A little more we can upgrade to a mod, honey." Doin that Disney math...before you know it you've "Just a little mored" yourself into CL at the Poly! :upsidedow

monkeybug So how bad is it that I already have this affliction and I have yet to even go to WDW??? Good Lord! You're this bad and you haven;t gone yet! Wow do you have a serious case! :lmao: It doesn't mean I have a more serious case does it? Yep! :thumbsup2 Is it going to be even worse when I re-visit next year??? Far worse than you can possibly imagine... :darth:

I just watched the planning DVD, and now I am more confused then ever! Any advice for a fledgling resort changer???? Yep. Go with your gut and book the one that looks the best AND the resort that gives you what you want on your priority list. Read a ton of reviews. All ears.net has a pretty good rate and review section, you can use that to see what you can live with and what you can't live without!

Oh dear...that's what I was afraid of! My poor family, and those poor people who make/switch your reservations. It sounds as if I will be keeping them busy right up to the end of April! Thank you for the advice! I am off to read some reviews...
:)

It is time. Personally I need some sort of a 12 step program.:scared: I have been reading this thread for quite awhile but have been in denial that I need to join you. I changed my mind tonight. I really need someone to talk me down from the need to change resorts.

Right now we are staying at POR-R in May. I was a good girl when I made ressie's and went with the cheapest option for my family of 5. I COULD have made ressie's at CR at that point which is where my boys really want to stay but I didn't. Since then I have second guessed myself. I think about this constantly! My dh thinks I am nuts!! :crazy2: I have been thinking about the space issue. I know my boys and no matter how tired they are at the end of the day they still take awhile to go to sleep. Last year I went down for a last minute trip with the boys and my mom. We stayed at the Royal Plaza. We had a regular tower room and after the first night my mom went down and bucked up for the presidential suite! We needed the space!! So, this has me thinking that I really should upgrade to at least a deluxe. Right? Right?

So, I have been looking at deluxes. Nothing has opened up at CR but there are rooms at BC & YC. Is it worth the extra $$, I don't know. The YC also has CL open for my dates and that is only $280 more than the water view room, so if I am going to splurge for that I may as well pay a few hundred more and go with CL right? I mean I have 3 growing boys that eat like horses! Even with the dp I think we will still get our moneys worth.

I haven't made any changes yet but this has become an obsession for me! HELP!! :scared:
