Resort Change by Disney

I am just happy to be going to get my Disney fix to be honest....we have had a crazy 2020 and we are so looking forward to just chilling 4th of July weekend with the family. We were all moved from YC to Riveria, but as my wife and the kids were talking about it...we can care less about where we were put, as long as we are together, just relaxing and getting life off our minds for 4 days... Disney has always been and will always be our escape from reality and the stress of life...don't care if it is a value resort or deluxe resort....it makes us happy.

When is your stay? They are currently only contacting people departing by July 11.

They are really letting this go too close -- people have flights, work vacations, pet sitters and other arrangements made or to be made!
We are July 7th through 16th. I don’t understand using the check out date instead of the check in date to help a customer. A person still needs to know when to book plane tickets.

I couldn’t wait any more. Still not hearing anything only a month out from trip, I cancelled my July 13-16 stay at Pop with 4 day park hopper tix. I just booked 4 day all park trip to UO for July 1-6.

wish me luck. I hope it works out for all y’all.

Have you ever been? We really enjoy it. We arrive just after you leave. Where are you staying?

It has to do with if any of your trip will be during the park opening. They are mostly dealing with people who will not be there during the park opening. Next will be the guinea pigs. Oink!

I think guests with visits scheduled in the next 1-2 months deserve more than “your resort isn’t scheduled to be open yet, stay tuned”. A better reply would be “We understand your concern. At this time, there are no plans to reopen your resort during your anticipated stay. We are working hard to ensure that you will have a room on Disney property. We will be contacting you soon to update you with the changes.”

Yes! This was the type of response I was hoping for...just something to say hey we know your resort is not open right now but you (will or will not) have a room somewhere and we plan to let you know by X date.

I’ve never been to UO. I’m taking my 16 year old son.
Oh, he will love it! You may never go back to Disney. PM me if you have questions. We are AP holders there from out of town and go very frequently. We have 3 trips planned this year.
Hey, some more UO folks! We are July 5-17 at POP. Strongly considering just cancelling and doing UO (Premier Passes) the July 20-29. Booked the Drury Inn yesterday for $732 for 9 nights. If we do the passes, we will most likely go this summer, fall break (get the free HHN pass), maybe right after Christmas, and then probably either Spring Break or early summer, because we will be pushing our Disney trip to next July. DW and DS's 14 and 11 have never been to UO and I haven't been since my senior trip in 97, so basically I haven't been either :)

Not a dime. I did get around $100 off for the last night but that was because Rivera was cheaper that night. But what the heck, I should just be grateful they’re letting me come, right?

I would call back about that. I have read CL were being refunded which should have nothing to do with the move.

I know you will cancel but it sounds like someone didn’t do it correctly. Because you can’t compare cost with food and without and assume it’s a wash.

I'm booked for All star Movies from September 7th-12th. I'm holding on and just waiting to see. We also have Halloween tickets. We're going to go no matter what but I still get nervous watching how everything has been unfolding with reservations currently. Lol I'm always checking my app for my reservations and opening my email with dread. :scared:

I agree! Sometimes when I feel like something isn't right I'll call back and get a different CM. I bet it wasn't done correctly

I did call again this morning. No dice. They compared my AP discounted room at the YC to rack rate at Riviera, essentially taking away the discount from the AP.

Been told the same thing twice now. I’ve spent all the hours on it I’m going to. I’ll write them...again... just to express my displeasure but I’m done fighting them to do the right thing.

Totally agree: pp with club level YC had a rate that included breakfast, snacks and (arguably) a light dinner. Now they have a room they didn't choose with more space, but have to pay out of pocket for food. That's what drives me bonkers about the 35% off as a "substitute" for free dining. I can't feed as family of 5 on less than $100 a day (what our 35% amounts to) so I'm forced to pay more without getting anything extra.

Quote-on-quote "upgrading" the pp from a smaller room with club level dining to a one-bedroom with no dining included is like if I were to go to a restaurant and order a 8oz steak, but they ran out of 8oz steaks so they gave me a 10oz, and made me pay extra, even though I didn't want to extra two ounces and had budgeted for the 8oz.

Trying to think of a good analogy for the free dining discount but all that comes to mind (because that one is daylight robbery) is buying at 8oz steak, but in between the time I ordered the steak and the time the steak arrives at the table they raised their prices so I now owe double the price I saw on the menu. They won't let me modify my order and will only let me "cancel" my meal, but at that point I'm already sitting at the table hungry (i.e. bought my plane tickets; requested time off work) so I'm left sucking up a price difference I didn't agree to.

So Riveriera was the resort selected for YC members to go to, thus that was your only choice vs cancel? And POP went to SSR?
