Resort Change by Disney

Look at the title below your name it's good advice. Worrying about how something is said in this unprecedented time is not what you should be looking for but instead see the real magic.
I take very little offense to how other people word their thoughts when in direct conversation with each other. However, Disney is a business, not a person, and optics are EVERYTHING, when dealing with the public. A CM might not word things in the most adroit manner when speaking with them but I expect written correspondence to be more palatable than what the PP received.

Optics clearly are making no difference for you as you're still trying to take a trip.

I agree with other posters. I just can't imagine Disney at this point doesn't even have a plan for which resorts are open in July. Everyone is trying to make changes and "go with the flow", but when your trip is a month away and you don't even know if it is confirmed it is frustrating. It is slowly eliminating the possibility of rescheduling elsewhere, changing plane tickets etc. I think a lot of people on these boards must be local, and don't really understand all the planning that goes into an out of state visit. And I'm sure most of us made these plans prior to COVID. Obviously, we are willing to accept a modified experience, or we would have already cancelled, but not even knowing if you have a resort is just not good customer service.

Everyone is allowed to feel what they want. It isn’t your job or anyone else’s job to tell others how to feel. Everyone is different.

I’m new to these boards but have been enjoying reading. I also feel like Disney’s communication has been lacking. Yes I know no one has ever been through something like this but it’s still frustrating because some people are less than a month out.

ETA: I don’t mean this rudely, I just think everyone’s feelings are valid. It’s a strange time.

I agree everyone has to understand things their own way but we've had over 100k people in our country die from a virus and people are concerned about if they get this dvc upgrade or another one and that is ridiculous. I also said earlier I had a gripe being lack of communication from disney but people only key in on one post versus an entire conversation. Being that I agree with more information would be better I also understand I or no one else understands what it's taking to get through this turmoil we live in today.

I understand. I edited it to add that I didn’t mean it rudely even if it came off that way. And I know that we all could be way worse and should be happy we’re healthy and believe me I am. This is all frustrating. I hate this virus.

That I totally agree with you on this virus uggh

No clue. We go late July and have heard nothing yet either. Our May trip got cancelled so we got free dining for our June trip which got cancelled and then free dining was taken away when we rebooked our July trip. We also have not had the 35% off applied yet for the July trip but they can't because they are not working on those trips yet. All that to say you are not alone.

I have a trip for July 9th and haven't heard yet 🤦‍♀️ My TA tried to call for us but since we stay past the 11th they wouldn't let us confirm or modify yet. Hopefully next week we can get it figured out.

Done.

This conversation is better left to PM if you would like to pursue it further. It adds nothing to this thread when people start getting personal in their replies. Have a Disney Day!
I didn't take anything personal from you and nothing I said was directed at you at a personal level cause I dont know you. But that's fine we can be done with the back and forth. Stay safe.

And any other time before this I would agree but in this pandemic world you won't get the details and that should be expected. Anyone that doesn't want a partial trip experience has the right not to spend their money. My only point was a whole alot is being made about small details when the only detail that should matter right now is that you're able to be healthy and enjoy the trip as is.

Again, the advice to take it or leave it isn't helpful and it's very tiresome to hear. We can both not go and still think they've handled this all abysmally. I don't call knowing what your resort will be and whether or not you will even be able to enter the parks, small details.

I never said.being able to enter parks wasn't an important detail so don't put words in my mouth. I directed it at the specific dvc free upgrade not being as good as another. Us getting to go matters so if you and I couldn't that would be total understandable for us to be upset.

I think a bigger thing is the notion that this is an upgrade and in reality, it isn’t that. It is a move to an open resort because one is not open.

So for some it may be..for others not.. I don’t believe the intent was for it to be seen as one either.

But, I do think at this point they should be able to say more about hotels and we won’t be open until at least x..even if it is still only a few weeks.

I agree upgrade may be the wrong definition of what's happening. I've said all along that communication is lacking and I would really like to know soon as my trip is supposed to be in 35ish days but not much I can do about it.

There isn't anything to be done right now. Just sit and wait. Many of us are in the same boat. I check in on 7/12, but it's DVC. We will be at UO before that. I am supposed to move the BWI on 7/18, not DVC.So, who knows where we will go or if rooms will even be available. I also have an AP, but son and husband have 10 PH. So, I may be sitting in the hotel while they go to the parks. Our DVC portion was rented and is non-refundable. We also were supposed to have a cruise at the end of this, which has been moved to next summer. We all have our "sob stories". At this point, all we can do is keep reading the boards, post new info, and be patient. Looking at the boiling pot is just going to make you go mad  Disney is spacing out communication, so that their staff can sort of handle the calls. They are still figuring out some things as they go along. If the "heat in the kitchen" and stress are too much, canceling might be the best route. It's only going to get worse when we actually can book stuff and when we show up to the parks. Bickering and complaining about the same thing over and over, particularly if you have already expressed your opinion multiple times on this and other threads isn't helping to provide new info to anyone. I am not saying that people shouldn't express themselves, but doing it over and over is driving people away from trying to read informative threads. Hopefully, everyone's situation will work out, we will hear something soon, and everyone will stay healthy.

That’s not a small matter either. My move was in reality a downgrade. That’s a big deal when I’m paying the same price. When my daughter gets moved to a 2 br villa at OKW from a standard room at POFQ and gets several hundred dollars in a refund and I get moved from the YC CL to a 1 br at the Riviera (2 people for her, 3 for me) and I don’t even at least get a refund on the CL value, that’s a problem.

And being told if we don’t like it, don’t go is getting old. I’m not going, but I’m going to complain about it too. I’m not sure why you feel the need to take anyone to task. Just be glad you get to go, right?

But I’m going to follow the lead of another poster, I’m done with the back and forth. I don’t like what they doing and I’m going to say so.

Omg they didn’t refund the club level?!! That IS absurd. You were paying for meals with your room & now they expect to pay for meals in addition to you room. Very wrong.

Not a dime. I did get around $100 off for the last night but that was because Rivera was cheaper that night. But what the heck, I should just be grateful they’re letting me come, right?
