Resort Change by Disney

Does anyone know what the basis is behind certain guests getting emails asking if they still plan on going to Disney? I think a guest posted that they got confirmation for an August trip this way. I’m supposed to arrive July 24th at CBR but have received nothing in the mail. Disney also cancelled my June trip and we rebooked for July but I haven’t been given the 35% off when they took away free dining. I called Thursday and they said they are only looking at reservations through July 4th. This doesn’t make sense. I feel like that guy in office space that just wants his red stapler.

That sucks. I hope you hear soon.

No clue. We go late July and have heard nothing yet either. Our May trip got cancelled so we got free dining for our June trip which got cancelled and then free dining was taken away when we rebooked our July trip. We also have not had the 35% off applied yet for the July trip but they can't because they are not working on those trips yet. All that to say you are not alone.

It also mentions robberies at okw as well, SSR is a great resort, proximity to Disney springs will be massive advantage with parks closing early.
I understand and I'm glad others love it. The rooms, the food options, and the size just isn't for me.

Thank you! Hope we all hear soon. I keep worrying that I missed an email or something. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much confusion with a trip.

Most of what I have read about trips beyond July 11th seem to be from overseas guests.

I know people have a lot of questions about DVC resorts. There are "main threads" here on DisBoards in the DVC Resorts forum. There are also great podcasts.

Here are two:
Saratoga Springs (March 2020) http://disunplugged.com/2020/03/02/the-dvc-show-podcast-03-02-20/
Old Key West (older--from 2015) http://disunplugged.com/2015/02/21/dis-unplugged-podcast-022215-7-in-7-old-key-west/

**Remember that if you are coming before July 11, the pros/cons of bus transportation to the parks is not applicable for you, and proximity to Disney Springs is probably a bigger deal.

I called the day after I got the “are you cancelling or modifying, etc. “ email. I was scheduled for June 22 at French Quarter. They moved me to a FW cabin for November because “that is the only moderate that we know will be open.” I got the 35% off, but it is still $200+ more. CM said that doesn’t mean FQ won’t be open at that time, and I can change if/ when it comes available. Incidentally, I had made a backup for same November dates at FQ, and CM said nothing needed to be modified for that one.

Exactly my family as well was may 9 thru 16 cancelled but given free dining for a june 6 thru june 13 trip which didn't happen and got moved to July 18 thru 25th with no dining.

I emailed reservations and asked specifically if I will have a resort to go to on July 24th. Agent wrote back saying that the resort I am booked at (CBR) currently does not have a reopening date listed. Also noted they are not offering modifications for my dates just yet so to stay tuned.
Well, that reply was a whole lotta nothin’

When I’m paying thousands of dollars for something, yes I’m going to pay attention to details. If Disney wants to give me a trip for free, I’ll absolutely be happy just to be there.
And any other time before this I would agree but in this pandemic world you won't get the details and that should be expected. Anyone that doesn't want a partial trip experience has the right not to spend their money. My only point was a whole alot is being made about small details when the only detail that should matter right now is that you're able to be healthy and enjoy the trip as is.

Can you post a link to the main threads please? I can't find them.

I think guests with visits scheduled in the next 1-2 months deserve more than “your resort isn’t scheduled to be open yet, stay tuned”. A better reply would be “We understand your concern. At this time, there are no plans to reopen your resort during your anticipated stay. We are working hard to ensure that you will have a room on Disney property. We will be contacting you soon to update you with the changes.”

Look at the title below your name it's good advice. Worrying about how something is said in this unprecedented time is not what you should be looking for but instead see the real magic.
