Resort branded merchandise?????

I read somewhere on the DIS that all Disney resorts have stopped selling resort branded merchandise. Is this true? Can we no longer buy a T Shirt with Animal Kingdom Lodge on it or maybe Port Orleans?

It is almost all gone.

There are still a few things here and there.

The Deluxes are much more likely to have a few shirts than the Moderates and Values.

There are still some things,especially at the Deluxes,but,no longer does EVERY Resort have their "own" Shirts,Sweatshirts,etc.

I haven't seen "resort specific" shirts at the Values and Moderates for several years now and they used to have great shirts.I had some GREAT POR and All-Star Resort shirts.

The reason "supposedly" is because it is simply more economical for Disney to produce large quantities of "generic" WDW shirts that can be sold in any Resort instead of 22 different shirts representing each of the 22 Resorts.

It is really a bummer.

I did see some stuff at the Poly in December. I'm now wishing that I got one for myself.

The Poly seems to be one of the few resorts still carrying shirts,so hopefully,they will continue.

The only resorts that I saw which still had their own logo merchandise was the Polynesian and Grand Floridan and this was in December 2010.

It really is a shame. My son does pin trading and I'd love to get a pin for his lanyard from each resort we have stayed at.

They still sell pins for each of the WDW Resorts. It's stuff like shirts, mugs, hats and etc with the logo of the resorts which they stopped selling.

I bought an AKL shirt back in May, but I think AKL was one of the places people had said they couldn't find stuff at recently and I didn't see the shirts when we were there in December. We also got an AKL magnet (which they still had in December 2010).

I hate that they stopped the majority of the resort specific merchandise.

They still sell pins for each of the WDW Resorts. It's stuff like shirts, mugs, hats and etc with the logo of the resorts which they stopped selling.

Oh good! That makes me happy. I can see why people would like to do the same thing with a mug or a shirt to remember their trip too though. We have some people who are really diehard fans of certain resorts here. I can imagine they find it disappointing to not be able to bring home a shirt from their favorite resort.

When we were at POR in Jan, there was no resort specific merchandise. They did have pins.
We also went to the gift shops at many of the deluxe resorts, because we had ADRs. I noticed they still had shirts and sweatshirts at Poly,GF and AKL. I didn't notice if they did at BC/YC or BW.

I'm glad I got something from WL, AKL & Poly from past stays, if things keep going this way, resort specific stuff will be dc'd at these resorts too. Sad.

I was very dissapointed I couldn't find as much as a fridge magnet at POR. I collect them from everywhere I stay.

I also collect and trade WDW pins, so I like that they still sell resort pins because those are some of my favorites one to get.

In addition, it is cheaper for distribution, as well as inventory. All cost cutting measures.

BC & YC did not have any when we were there in January. We asked a cm in the YC gift shop & she confirmed "they are not selling any anymore".

She told me that she has been asking for it all the time, but the rumor is that the CR's logo is in "re-development" and they were holding off on producing more merchandise until the new logo is approved. But, this doesn't answer the question as to why it's disappearing (or has disappeared) from most other resorts (except the Poly, which usually has a great selection) and why there isn't any BLT merchandise either (presumably their logo isn't changing already).

Yes I have a few Contemporary pins and here are pictures of what they look like. Some were open edition, limited edition, Cast Member pins and the Bay Lake Tower DVC member grand opening pin. Now for that one even though I am not a DVC member I have a friend who is and he purchased it for me on the day they opened.

We were at AKL the end of January and they had maybe 6 different shirts with AKL on it in some way. I thought they were really cool but didn't realize that they will not sell them in the future, wish I would have bought more!

You're welcome and the ones that are most recent are the following so they should still be sold at WDW and if they take them away then there is always the option of getting them on Ebay. Also Ebay would be the best place to find the other ones no longer being sold across WDW.
