How accurate is the posts in this category? We are going to try to switch at the 7 month mark next week for April 2010, as of now we look like we will be fine. Want BWV 1 bd standard.

Not terribly. Its better at telling you what isn't available than what is. And its only what people choose to report. If there is ONE BWV Standard View available, and you are the second person to call, you wouldn't be fine and there is no way for us to know that there is only one left.

I'm not even sure it's good at telling you want is not available, since someone might call for the week of April 1 - 7 and be told by MS that they can't book that whole week at BCV. What MS really means is that April 4th isn't available at BCV. But the member reports on the thread that April 1 - 7 is not available anywhere.

We all look at the thread but I'd call MS myself to see if the dates I want are available.

This morning I called and switched from BWV to WLV at the 7 month window. I have never had any problem switching and I do it alot. Getting into BWV might be a big probelm.

Getting into the BWV at 7 months for a non-Easter week in April won't be a problem, but getting a standard view or a Boardwalk view certainly could be.

In the OP's favor is that she wants a 1 bedroom. Those go a bit more slowly than the studios or 2 bedrooms. If the location is important, then the best strategy is to book Preferred View if SV isn't available, and then waitlist for SV. Since SV is less than PV, you need to keep your banking deadline in mind as well as make sure you cancel the waitlist at the 31 day mark. Otherwise, you will have the extra points go into holding.

I was able to get a 1 bedroom standard view at the 7 month mark for late April a few years ago. I was combining points with a friend who owns at BCV.

so the 7 month window finally arrived and I called exactly at 9. I was told the 17 was not available in the Sv but all my dates were for PV. I booked the PV and waitlisted for the 17 with the intentions of calling on the 18 and atleast getting those dates booked with the SV. When I called the MS stated your waitlist came through on the 17 and you are allset for SV for your stay. Great news, I just think the PV is not worth the extra points but the BV that is a different story.

I tried yesterday to get a 2bd SV at BWV for Apritl 18-21 with no luck. They had one day, but not the first two. Same with BCV. I waitlisted for a SV at BWV, but was able to get all three at VWL.
They did have a preferred view at BWV available but not a BWV.
We love VLW, so we'll be very happy there anyway, just wanted to try to save some points.

It's not always accurate in telling you what's not available either. I tried to get a value studio at AKV and was told it wasn't available. So I posted it here. But dummy me, didn't waitlist. A few weeks later, it dawned on me to try again-this time I didn't have any trouble getting a value studio. I tried to repost, but I guess there's a glitch in the system.

I heard (not sure if it's true) that standard view was harder to get than preferred view at BWV because there are less of the SV and the home owners usually book those at the 12 month window and they are less points. Again, not sure if it is true. We plan to try BCV preferred view, maybe next October.

The Resort Availability Board is just a snapshot in time. It means that someone tried to book a specific date and was told it was not available.

It is only as accurate as the reports received.

I've also noticed that not everyone reads or understands the specific posting directions when they report. If the moderator can't easily tell what was meant, the data is not included. If it would take too much time to edit the post to correct the formatting, the data is not included.

The RRA Forum is meant to be a planning tool for the times MS isn't open - if what you want is listed as not available, then it's a good idea to have a back up plan (probably a good idea most of the time, LOL). Doesn't mean you shouldn't try or that something hasn't changed. At this time, we can't "undo" a report.

A BIG THANK YOU to all those who take the time to post on that board. I think it is a help to your fellow DIS posters. :grouphug:
