Does anyone know how often the RAT is updated? I assumed it was real-time and linked to the res system. This AM I tried to make reservations for dates showing as available in the RAT but they were not available. I thought someone snagged them from under me so I logged in again and searched in the RAT again and they were still showing as available even though they were not.

In my experience, it is real time but with an occasional glitch. Which resort were you looking at? I know there were problems reported with PVB early on.

Very interesting. On multiple occasions over the last few weeks, we have seen available on the RAT and when tried to book them, just got the waitlist message. Always assumed that someone else had grabbed them, but now you make me wonder.

I suspect the RAT works off a separate database that syncs from the booking database via asynchronous replication. i.e. its never "live" or technically real time, and if the servers or networks are busy or there is a replication issue, data discrepancies are noticeable - although very frequently transactions are replicated fast enough for it to look like real time to the end user. Synchronous replication hits performance pretty hard and wouldn't be a requirement.

When you are actually looking to book the RAt is the wrong tool to use. when booking it is best to use the booking tool.

RAT is better for looking ahead before your booking window opens.
