Is tipping appropriate for this desk personnel? We were not sure if they where considered like bellman taking your luggage, OR if they work more for the airline and that would be inappropriate? Their ID badges said airline but had pictures with mickey mouse so that was no help.

The guys at the Polynesian where great! This is a fabulous service. I hope they keep this!

I generally tip the curbside check-in people at the airport $1 per bag if they are polite and helpful (which they almost always are).

I would do the same at the resort if theyare checking your bags for you.

My understanding is that Disney states tipping for ME people is included, including room drop off of luggage.

I also understand that bell service from the room to resort check out counter for ME departure is NOT included. That should be tipped for if used.

Thanks, I have never used the curb side check in at the airport. Usually to busy here in chicago. But this desk at disney had nothing to do with ME, I did not use ME. We rented a car. It is a new service provided by certain airlines that have joined togther to offer early check in, at your resort. It is great. :sunny:

We tipped the bellman who brought our luggage down at BC $2 per bag. I did not tip the CM who printed our boarding passes. All he did was "tag" the luggage & the same bellman that I already tipped took the luggage away to who knows where.

Mky, actually that is actually one part of ME.

We used just that part of ME for our return in May. Then we had the rest of the am and early afternoon before we went to the airport in our rental car. It was great. :cool1:

We did tip just as we would at curbside. I believe those people work for an independent contractor.

I would have done the same. We schlepped our own bags to the desk and two guys were working it. One printed and one tagged. I hope they shared the tip??

Didn't realize that was ME. Just saw the truck they took your luggage and put it on a truck. He gave our luggage early and left for the airport in late afternoon, had 6pm flight.

While we are on the subject, When they weighted it, if you where over your #50 did they let you "fix" or adjust your packing? I did ok bags we where all even. I was surprised to see the scale right there at the desk at the poly thou. Guess better there than the airport.

Thanks Mky princess:

Thanks Mky princess:

I saw the scale and actually thought my bags going home were overweight (too many souvenirs) but they never weighed them. They were on the carousel when we went to baggage claim, so I guess they can "eyeball" the ones that they feel need to be weighed. I guess all the participating airlines have the same weight allowance? BTW, the man that brought our bags to our Poly room was a Poly CM and he got a tip. The guys at the resort airline check-in had a weird uniform with wing insignias and I wasn't sure who they worked for. I assume Mears? They run the ME for Disney. Since I lugged the bags down to them, I didn't tip them but I do agree, the ones at the Polynesian were very friendly and helpful.

Someone who lifts and weighs luggage all day probably knows within about a pound what your bag weighs when they pick it up.

Ever watched someone who has worked in a deli for a long time pull out cold cuts? They can often get within 0.1 of a pound. :teeth:
