Resolve to Declutter in 2010 with me....

It's great to read all these reports! You all are helping me stay motivated.

So far I have cleaned out and reorganized two clothes closets, some dresser drawers, the bathroom closet, a couple of kitchen cupboards and an overloaded drawer of cooking tools. DH and I have also worked our way through half of the attic, a major accomplishment.

We made one run to Goodwill so far and I have the back of my car filled with another load that I will drop off next week. We've also tossed out so many bags of stuff I've lost count. It feels good!

Ok I tackled the motherload this weekend. We have a bonus room that sits over the garage. It is 90% office space and 10% space for our greenwing macaw. After 2 full days in there I can actually bring real people in there instead of search and rescue woohoo!

We finally cleaned out & reorganized the pantry! whew!

By the time I put away Christmas, had my mom's birthday party, this was the first time that DH & I had to work on it. It was sad to throw out food, but maybe if we stay more organized, we won't have to throw stuff out in the future.

On to: the bedroom closet!

We redid our bathroom and got new furniture for the master, so cleaned out those closets and cabinets, freecycled a lot, donated some, rest goes to garage sale in spring; also got rid of old meds.

Moved old mbr bedding to another bedroom and freecycled that bedding. Cleaned out closet in that room and the hall linen closet and guest bath cabinets.

Moved furniture around in bedrooms as well. Cleaned out ds's closet and bath cabinets.

Have one bedroom closet left and the upstairs is done!

Next up, tackle the office and the excess paper mess!

I can't wait to "attack" my bedroom closet! It's time. I have a charity pick up on Monday, so I need to go through the stuff and weed out what I don't want.

....and those are my Valentine's Day plans!

Anybody still working? I was going to try to do some decluttering/spring cleaning over spring break this week...

I'm at my aunt's trying to declutter her life... it isn't going over well so far. Come tuesday when i get ready to leave, there will still be a huge mess to deal with, and nothing will happen till I return.

But at home for me. I've finally separated our stuff. All my stuff is sitting in the living room, I just need to find some good boxes for packing it all up. The room of forgotten things is so full of stuff I don't know what kari is going to do with it all. she hasn't lived at home for like 2 months now, but she's moving back in mid April. When she stopped by to take me to the airport, she took a look in the room and flipped out that I switched the dressers (her's is much larger than mine that was hidden in the closet), and claiming "how am I going to fit a bed in that room now?" Well I took all my stuff out... so why should I have to deal with your stuff? Just because I "seem" to have more time on my hands doesn't mean I want to waste it on her junk.

But right now my bedroom looks great, the bathroom looks good, the kitchen has gotten a full clean out. And even the car has finally got a good scrub out. Just need to take it to get it vacuumed out.

I have been doing a little at a time but this morning I spent a huge chunk of time in our utility room downstairs. It has to be cleaned out for the gas company to come in and put in some new equipment and wow, it has been awhile since we cleaned that out. It kind of became the room where we shoved things that we could not put anyplace else. I brought up 6 bags of trash and have 3 more to do. I also took 4 bags up to goodwill. It feels so nice to have that room cleaned out.

Tomorrow I hope to do the walk-in closet upstairs.

Is it too late to join in? I just started last night with the play area in our basement. We seem overrun with trucks, cars, blocks, and plush. Dear God in Heaven, where DOES all that plush come from?

We have all of the toys separated by category. Next step is to let the 2 older boys go through the piles and pick one or two special toys from each category (action figure, Transformers, Power Rangers, Star Wars, Trucks, etc) The rest will be thrown away, put into the garage sale, or donated.

Next step is de-cluttering the bathroom from the 500 bottles of "must haves" that are only "half used"
