Can i use my DVC ownership as a "permanent resident" status as a Florida
homeowner? I know this a wildcard but you never know

Assume you are really asking if DVC membership qualifies you to receive Florida resident discounts from Disney. As CharlesTD already said, the answer is "Nope."

The paperwork all members sign at purchase specifically states that DVC membership does not entitle us to Florida resident discounts from Disney. So even if the State of Florida says timeshare owners are state residents, we still wouldn't get Florida resident discounts from Disney.

Best wishes-

my Question was more for options outside DVC... insuring a car, registration of a car... possible collage discounts.. that sort of stuff

No. Docs clearly state that you can't.

Actually the POS has nothing to do with being a legal resident of the state. It's more that it doesn't qualify for the discounts Disney extends to residents.

To be a legal resident, you must live in the state at least part of the time. You can flip your residency back in forth IF YOU QUALIFY for many options other than higher education costs and the like. But even though one member of this board thinks you can be a legal resident of more than one state at the same time, it just isn't so. It is easier to qualify for WDW FL discounts than be a legal resident, at least to a degree.

I don't know how it is now, but 14 years ago it was VERY difficult to prove residency for college purposes. They looked everything over with a microscope and wanted to see not only a FL drivers license but utility bills. That would kill residency for someone who's only FL real estate is DVC.

At the risk of being off topic, many states have gone to VERY strict requirements for college tuition. It usually takes around two years residing and working in the state full time while not going to school to qualify.
