Reservations for SWGE at WDW?

it's just not possible. WDW alone in their 25 resorts has 30000 rooms. Let's say that they are not all sold, and we are looking at only 15000 for one day being occupied. each room on average has 2 people, that's 30000 people to get reservation for one day at GE, not possible

But not everyone would want a reservation on the same day, right? or are you talking about opening day?

A reservation system is very unlikely for 3 reasons:
1; We have 33 resort hotels (on site and neighbors) here there is no way to get everyone staying at one of the resorts a reservation time per day
2: They have announced on several platforms about the EEMH starting Sept 1st for 2 months. they will not take those a way in lieu of a reservation system
3: the first 3 days will see plenty of people coming that are staying off site or are locals because Disney has announced over and over again that there will be NO reservation. They won't change that.
Now virtual queue is possible and I would say that they will do it.

And then how would length of stay in the land be managed, wrist bands once you enter?

Yes Disneyland did wristbands.

I'm talking about the first 3 days.
Sure not everyone would want to go to SWGE but Disney needs to guarantee a reservation for the day they are staying...there are just to many variables and that's a huge, unnecessary headache for Disney.
If they announce a reservation system here they can't guarantee everyone staying on site will get one
If they announce a reservation system that includes both on and off site they will get the onsite people complaining

People complain not matter what happens. I get what you’re saying but I think WDW is still figuring out what to do exactly.

Not sure how it would work, I am just trying to manage people expectations. It would be misleading at this point to tell people that there definitly won't be a reservation system.

but Disney has said through their website, through DPB and through their live streams that there WON'T be a reservationn system. I think it's more misleading to give people hope or an expectation that there will be.
They can obviously change their mind at any point but I think it's smarter to plan with the idea that there won't be a reservation because Disney has already said, several time and through out their sites and outlets that there won't
I never said that there is definitely not going to be a reservation system, it's just very very improbable

will lines start like hours before park opens so people that even get there before park opening, but not hours beforehand, will the land fill up and then the virtual queue fill up too? I mean, I get it that you can't expect to show up at like 4pm and get a spot but I remember back int he days of paper FPs and they would be gone for the day for Toy Story Mania within the first 30 minutes of the park opening. Will this be a similar situation?

if they do a virtual line I expect you have to be inside DHS to book it, just like they do at DL with MaxPass. And I expect the land would have to be at capacity to book it.
And that's the thing, without knowing when many people are coming out of the land how are they going to know when to let more people in...with Pandora it was easy, 5 people came out they allowed 5 in through the line but with this virtual system how will they know

For everyone following, I understand the frustration and the planning without really knowing. For me the best strategy is to plan with what we know.

that's all we know, we can speculate all day long but that's the fact at this moment
Sure we are all expecting some sort of virtual cue, we still don't know if they'll allow overnight lining up, and those are things we have to wait for, so for now there is no point to speculate or plan otherwise
Having been living here in Orlando with an AP for 20 years and knowing people in higher management I can tell you that the only thing they know for now is No reservation.
Also knowing how DIsney operates they could change at anytime but they do not want to upset the on site guest, which is what would happen if a reservation system was implemented

The biggest thing I noticed about the wristbands was that they marked them so that you could only ride MFSR once...
No matter what they come up with that will be key to avoid super long wait times for that ride. You don't want people getting right back in line in front of others that have a later entrance time.

This is the point I keep trying to clarify. The "no reservation statement" was made along with the reservation information for DL. It had the qualifier "at this time". My interpretation of this is that they put that in there so that when DL reservations opened up you didn't have WDW people also looking for reservations. I really think WDW management is waiting to see how things go at DL before deciding on the procedures for DHS.

At no point has Disney said, "When GE opens at WDW, reservations will not be needed"

If they definitly aren't doing reservations, I would expect it to say so in the disclaimer on the Disney web site:

That would make sense since they would need singles to fill spots for a group of 6..but if everybody did that then single rider would take forever also, if you were to choose that option.
Single riders could be turned away at that point too if they have already rode.

they actually have said no reservations will be required for WDW. From their website it says
Walt Disney World Resort vacation packages or certain hotel stays do not include special provisions for, or guarantee access to, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

So they could open reservations for everyone for the first 3 days and upset a bunch of on site guests, and that's what I don't see happening

Don't get me wrong, I know how wishy washy Disney can be, I had a reservation at a hotel for opening day and when they announced no reservations for GE and EEMH I switched it to Sept 1st. But I did ask a friend to add me to her reservation for opening day just in case they change their minds.

That pretty much describes any time we stay on site in one way or another!

I think it's a little early to worry about this. Obviously there can't be 30,000 people queued on grand avenue to get in to this thing. Using mymagic+ in some capacity certainly makes sense; as to how it's done, there are a plethora of ways I can think of, so there's no telling which route they may go.

… and what concerns me is the wish-washy wording whenever they talk about reservations. No where has Disney said clearly, "Reservations will not be needed for GE at DHS". If they have made the decision not to have reservation I don't understand why they don't just say it.

I think they will just have to base in on what data they have and on average how long people are staying - so if 4 hours seems like about how long people are staying then maybe the first return time is 2 hours after opening for a small number of people, then 3 hours and then 4 hours is the first big block of people, and then sort of rotate it on the hour after that

It wont' be exact and at times it might feel a bit more crowded than others (maybe they will call "capacity" at, say, 90% of true capacity to allow for a little bit of surge now and then
