Reservation switch and fp questions.

My wife and I are going to Disney for our 20th anniversary. As a gift my parents offered their RCI timeshare (which can be exchanged for DVC). Because they havent found a DVC exchange yet we booked WL for a good deal as a back up. Now to the question. If we get to the 60 day fp window with our WL ressie and then get an RCI /DVC exchange will this affect any fp we already booked? or would they be linked through the tickets?

FP+ are not related to hotel reservations at all. Locals and non on site guests can all make reservations at 30 days without staying on site at all. The onsite advantage is the + 60 and you do need a linked reservations for that.

Just to clarify, I assume you have a room only reservation at WL and separately purchased tickets?

I have a room only and will be adding a ticket before my booking window opens. If I buy my tickets trough Disney or a ticket seller and end up cancelling my room only I assume the fp's i made will be negated.

No, your FPs will be good.

Having an on-site resort room reservation “opens” your FP 60 day window, but you can later cancel or modify that room reservation with no impact to your FPs. As long as you have valid park tickets (which you would in this circumstance), your FPs are good.
