I have noticed when you try to book a reservation spanning two UYs, it states you must call. Is there a way around that? For example, if some of your nights are in one UY and some are in another UY, can you book them separately and then call to have the reservations linked? Or is it better to just wait and call. I would be trying for a 2 BR and a studio at HHI over Memorial Day weekend (not this year).

Go ahead and book the nights in the first use year. Then call Member Services to add the remaining days from the next UY. You can call Member Services on the same day if you want. Don’t wait - you would run the risk of losing it.

You can book a reservation across use years, but it is not automated. You have to call.

Or you could book separate reservations and have them combined later but you'd have to wait until the new UY is bookable at 11 months out. I'd walk it booking 7 months out in this situation and call when the other days could all be added at one time.

One unique 'advantage' of a trip spanning 2 use years is that you can add double the number of one time use points to the reservation (up to 24 in each use year). Obviously there is a cost involved and it may not matter if you have plenty of points, but it is a way of maximizing the length of the trip (or borrowing fewer points from a future use year) if that's important to you.

I won't need to wait until 7 months out. I have the 11 month booking advantage at HHI. And I won't be able to walk it since that would require me to borrow points.

That is an advantage that I had not thought of. Of course, I hate paying for even 1 one-time-use point. I can't imagine paying for 48!
