Reservation Question

My family will be going to WDW next August (probably the third week). We own at VWL, but the kids want to try the Boardwalk Villas. I don't want to wait until the 7 month window, and then be stuck with no rooms; so will call next month to book the Lodge. My question is can I then change the reservations to the Boardwalk Villas at 7 months out, if there are rooms available, without any kind of penalty. We will be borrowing some points. Also, how hard would it be to get a two bedroom there 7 months out? Thanks!

It should be fairly easy. According to MS this is a slow time as it tends to be back to school for many of the schools from the south. If you happen to be lucky and get standard view, it will be less points than VWL. Depending on the number of points you borrowed and your use year, ask MS to use the borrowed points first on the BWV ressie. Than bank the extra current points. If you end up with preferred view, it should be the same number of points.

This is the proper approach. Book your home resort then change over if you can. Since the BWV preferred are the same points, no penalty at all if the entire room is available. If not keep VWL or try for BCV. Good luck.

Another question: Do you think I should call day by day or wait and book the whole 10 days at once? We had to call every day to book over Christmas. Do you think this is necessary for a late August vacation? (VWL - 11 months out; BWV - 7 months out)

Definitely not for VWL 11 months outs in August.

I believe it won't be needed for BWV either, unless you have a shot at std view. I would call the first day and ask MS about availibility and go by what they say. I think the prefered will be easy and std a longshot.
