We have never been during this time, but since we spent our anniversary trip in February that we were going to take to DLR to go see my grandmother, who has been very ill, but doing much better, what concerns are there for this time of year?

I know it is Bats Days (if they still do that) and Spring Dapper Day, but is there anything else I should consider?

I'm thinking the weather should be pretty nice this time of year; we are used to going when it's a bit chilly in the morning and at night.

Any insight into late April/early May would be much appreciated. TIA!

We went early May a few years ago - so as you know a lot has changed. We were there on a Sunday that was Bat's Day and didn't notice that affecting crowds at all. The good thing about when you are going is it's before Grad Nites so you will miss all of that. Since your days are over a weekend you'll likely have long operating hours so I'd just suggest you get there before rope drop and make sure you take advantage of those early hours when more can be done in less time than later in the day. There is also this thread which covers a lot of things going on during this year.

Yeah, we picked that weekend vs. two later weekends that had Grad Nites, tbh.

That was sort of the deciding factor with us, though I wouldn't have been totally kept away because of Grad Nites, either, though I've heard conflicting reports about their effect on the parks.

There may be slightly higher than "normal" crowds in DCA over the weekend due to the Food & Wine Festival. At this point, we really don't know much about the event (other than the beverage and celebrity chef seminars have been announced), but it's taking places on weekends in April. So 4/29-5/1 is the last weekend of the festival.

I did note that as well in your schedule thread, but we focus more on DL than CA, so I was hoping it wouldn't be too bad for us even though that's going on.
