Well here I am again. I said I would not be here, but I knew better. Im sure you all did too! I have known for a while I need more points at WDW since a bulk of my points are on the west coast.

I have always been a buying 2042 is not a good choice financially. My husband was also against it. Well after a trip to WDW we fell head over heels for Crescent Lake, especially BW. And much to my surprise my husband gave the green light on buying BW.

I own 100 points at CCV. We bought CCV because it made a really good choice value wise. And I do not regret it at all. It has been a great little SAP contract for us. It has also held its value which is amazing. So why would I sell it? It's crazy right? I dont see myself loving it all that much when we do stay especially since December is likely not to be a time in which we visit, when the resort really shines.

My recent trip had me realizing we are not bus people and never will be bus people. So minimizing the need for a bus is the highest priority for us. I adore Crescent lake. We love the vibe. We love the transportation options and we LOVED the theming at BWV. My husband doesn't think we will like BLT the way we do BW but he also is pretty nervous about the 2042 expiration. Financially BLT makes the most sense. Calculations I came up with would be a cost of $11.10pp at BLT and $14.23pp at Boardwalk, in 10 years BLT will obviously still hold some value but will BW?

I am kind of over having multiple contracts even if within the same use year, so I was considering selling CCV 100 and buying 150-175 elsewhere.

Should I slow my roll and just wait to see how I like my trip in August at Wilderness Lodge?
Should I go with my heart and go for it with BWV?
Should I make the best financial choice in BLT since it is walkable to MK and that is huge for us.
Should I just keep CCV, book what I can at BW at 7 months and pony up for Minnie Vans to MK?
Is there is a resort thats a good compromise you think Id love and should consider over BW or BLT?

With all that said I am needing to plan a trip in a 2 bedroom for Feb 2026 so if Im buying BLT/BWV I would like to hopefully get in before 7 months hits.

Maybe just start making low ball offers on BWV and BLT over the next few months until someone bites, if you get a deal you cant refuse, maybe that'll be your answer.

Have you stayed at BLT? Or are you repeating what you did with CCV?

Have not stayed at BLT. We have been to the Contemporary for food but thats it, so yes repeating what I did with CCV. Since its made so much sense financially Im not mad about it, thats why I think BLT *can* make sense but...

I'll admit that as a long-time BWV owner, I'm prejudiced. When we stayed at BLT, we loved walking to MK. But we got tired of walking over to CR, riding up to the monorail station, riding to TTC, and having to transfer to the Epcot monorail, then reversing the route on the way back. (That may be the trip when we found out we spend more time at Epcot than at MK.) A similar thing happened when we stayed at AKV-Kidani; after a week, we got tired of riding buses everywhere. We're just spoiled by being able to walk or boat to Epcot and walk, boat or now Skyliner to DHS.

We initially justified buying into DVC by saying it was a way to prepay our accommodations at a place we loved returning to year after year, so yes it was a financial decision. But over the years, we started saying it was the best thing we ever did for our family, because family vacations are for our hearts.

Besides, a lot can change in your life in the next 16 1/2 years. Buy what your heart says now, or wait until you actually stay at BLT and decide whether you love it just as much. Sixteen years is a long time to stay in one place while wishing you were in another.

I'd go with slow your roll for a couple months. It's a buyer's market and I can imagine it'll even be more of a buyer's market as time rolls on. I do like the other suggestion about throwing out lowball offers and seeing if anyone bites. Without going into a lot of detail, I'll say that I threw out 3 "low" offers in the past couple days and all 3 were right there with accepting my terms exactly when they found out I had no interest in negotiation. You just might get a good deal by throwing out offers and not being attached to any of the contracts.

I do think you might be able to keep what you have and have success with wait listing. I know you love BWV. I don't know that you love BLT. I wouldn't recommend BLT until you have either stayed there or day visited it.

We didnt visit the TTC this trip but I do remember not caring for it back in 2021, albeit it was different then with multiple stops for temperature taking, which may have played a part.

Agree. Before we bought CCV I offered on AKV. I for sure would not have been happy with that choice even though we love the animals.

Sometimes this is so hard for me 😂 Although I almost offered on one last night but decided to sleep on it. This morning Im glad I slept on it, when I checked my dates for February in a 2 bed at BWV is already gone. I for sure wont buy without it feeling like a deal.

I can totally relate! My husband and I are at the life stage now where it doesn't make sense to "wait until later" to get what we want. I feel like our whole lives, we were taking care of our parents, our kids, our pets our businesses. It's time to prioritize our own joy.

Hahah I knew you’d be here again but I admit, it’s sooner than I thought it would happen😂

Buy BWV. Get a great deal and just enjoy what’s left of a fantastic resort that you all love. Apologies if I’m being too forward, but with 1000+ points, it does seem like you guys have enough money to “throw away” on this non-investment investment product. Treat yourselves; sometimes it really isn’t about the numbers. The $3-$4/pt you’re “losing” in comparison to BLT or CCV is priceless gains for joy and happiness. Besides, there’s no loss in value if you use it to the end, which is what many of us with 2042 resorts plan on doing.

Personally, I’d also say wait to sell your CCV (like you said it’s great SAP and will likely hold its value for a few more years), lowball some Boardwalk contracts and once all that goes through, then see what you want to do with CCV. You’ve gotten used to having that contract, it’ll feel like you need more once you get rid of it and you’ll be in the same place again. Let the dust settle, see how you guys are using your points for a few trips, then make that decision. Happy hunting, can’t wait or see what you get!

HAHAHA True, thats probably why I sold myself on selling CCV to buy it. Our first purchase we spent literally 50 hours talking, comparing, creating spreadsheets for running numbers.. now it's a bit different. I offered on 205 Aulani points on whim without much thought. All of our purchases made financial sense for us. Thats why my CCV is worth what I paid for it and Ive already gotten 50% of what I paid for it in vacations. But this time I wanted to go with what was a better for us and our quality of vacation not just what makes the most sense financially.

This most definitely is the way. It makes a lot of sense to be ultra careful, do your due diligence and yes, make the best financial decision with something like this when you’re new to it and aren’t sure if it’s for you and your family. But now that you know you all love it and see yourself using for many years to come, feel safe in making the emotional purchase this time. It’s why we decided to buy a bunch of poly direct a few months ago (and will buy more RIV direct eventually) even though financially it makes way less sense then resale. But we know the product now and how we want to use it and this was the best decision for us regardless of the numbers. No regrets here.

I tried real hard to get my husband to go to RIV he wouldn't I think he knew where that road would lead. I even said I only wanted to go to see if they had the Skyliner ears.

I changed my dvcforless alerts to include BW and if something good comes along maybe thats my sign and I love negotiating.

Hahah could’ve gone either way I think, you’d love it or hate it but based on what I think you enjoy, you’d end up loving it and that would cause some trouble 😈 I’ve seen a few really great BWV contracts the last few weeks, I’m sure you’ll get something killer.

You should obviously buy Boardwalk.

Have you tried BC? What if you tried it and decided you love the pool in the bit of extra proximity to Epcot? Having access to SAB pool with a child is really great.

Also, are you always in 2BR? We stay at BWV a lot without owning because the garden view 1BRs are very often available, but maybe that doesn't work for you.

I have thought about this also, would I love BC just as much. We visited the resort but since the pool was closed it’s not its real self right now.

We travel about 50/50 half the trips needing a studio or 1 bed and the other half needing a 2 bedroom.

How much luck have you had trying to book BW at the 7 month mark? We own there so we book much earlier but there are certainly some times when it seems it can be booked at the 7 month mark. The 2042 date isnt great but if you dont have to rush into a purchase you can just throw some darts until you find something that makes a little more financial sense while getting that peace of mind for a place you enjoy staying. The BW location I think is much better than BLT for transportation purposes and your points will go much further at BW than BL.
