Resale Resorts Riv eligibility

So resale purchasers with the "16" in their contracts will or won't be able to use them at Riviera?

They will not. That language was not in the contract...which is the RIV POS. That was not changed.

The waiver document had an error in it but there Is nothing to suggest that that specific document would supersede the actual contract.

Basically, without the official change in the POS, current restrictions stand

Oh, well. Bummer.

But this seems like a pretty large mistake over multiple contracts. Was this really a find and replace from a template? Is this a future template? And it seems like more than one person got this template and used it? Just weird...

Well, something is really fishy with the survey that went out..
[/QUOTE

I got a survey last October when I bought Raiav asking those same questions..or close to it and my thoughts on restrictions.

So that is not new.

Good to know! I saw a few mentions today from members saying they got a survey today.

For what it's worth, we signed a SSR contract on August 25th and the resale policy contained the old verbiage. It seems to be dependent on the broker being used.

Ita the document that Disney uses to simply convey they have waived ROFR.

The resale restrictions as posted here are part of RIV POS and that is the legal document that governs them. So, even though the waiver had 16 and not 14, it was a mistake that was fixed once it got called out.

Big mistake yes but not something that would override the actual contract.

Now, could it mean something is in the works and this wasn’t supposed to be part yet? Maybe.

But, officially,nothing was changed

I figured that it had to be in the purchase offer as well as the final documents too. Thanks for confirming.

I got a survey from DVC today asking about my recent direct purchase, and some of the questions in there specifically asked me about what I thought of the Riviera Resale Restrictions (and one asked me if one of the reasons I bought CCV over Riviera was due to those restrictions). Perhaps Disney IS reconsidering it.

I think this survey may go out to anyone who had a purchase, whether direct or resale, since the survey did ask if I had purchased direct or via resale at the beginning. Alas, there wasn't a way for me to answer BOTH. ;-)
I got one as well -

This is just a courtesy notice they add to the waivers. It has no legal meaning whatsoever. Many of the waivers issued in April 2016 didn't even mention the new restriction.

But just to be clear — sorry I may have missed something because today has been crazy — we haven’t heard anything official from DVC?

The waiver was changed back to Its original form snd That comes from Disney.

Now, I am waiting for a response and should get it by Tuesday. I’ll post, but I think that the Change back to the regular form is as close as you are going to get because nothing really ever changed.

So I am curious while the continued Riviera remarks always come down to the educated buyer.
AND NO I AM NOT SINGLING ANY ONE POSTER OUT

Do you mean they have a:
a) GED
b) High School diploma
c) College degree

So people are buying RIV and knowingly with restrictions and not all are first time buyers some of us are owners of other resorts but the high and mighty keep inferring we are uneducated? Lets stand back for a moment and think that maybe I just think your jealous of RIV owners should I continue to post it through every thread just like this one.

I ask because if a Riviera owner would constantly turn it around would the mods slap my wrists and yes I am no stranger to the wrist slap here.

Someone at Disney made a mistake and I know a lot of people would have loved it if the restrictions were removed from RIV but it was a mistake no one here can claim they are perfect afterall. It has nothing to do with who feels they are more "educated" than an other because they bought in or didn't.

I don't think the author was referring to their level of formal education but their level of experience and understanding of the product they are purchasing.

if people can walk out of a dealership knowing their brand new car has just lost $20k then yes I can see people buying RIV as well

But that's just your opinion which I notice you like to post in every RIV thread. So we could say the only people who are uneducated are those buying resale with a half life at double the money they sold for originally. That's my point.

Totally agree, I wasn’t reading educated as your schooling level. It’s the educated knowledge of the whole DVC process of what you are buying. Many are impulse on the spot purchasers. Riviera is the current Chef’s Special on the menu. If it appears appetizing to you, it’s a terrific purchase. Who cares about the restriction. Buy what you enjoy.
