Looking at some resale contracts and a couple questions came to mind that I know I can get the answers here. :)

Background - I am a DVC member already, purchased direct from Disney; my use year is September.

1) If a resale contract is purchased with the same use year but a different home resort, does it become part of my existing membership number?

2) What if the resale contract is a different use year - Does the same membership account get used then?

I have addonitis!

If you purchase a resale contract with the same UY as your existing contract the broker can tell DVC to put the contact under your existing membership number.

If you purchase a contract with a different UY it will be a different membership number.

1) The new sub contract has to be titled the exact same way as the master contract or it becomes a new master contract with a new membership number.

2) The will be a new master contract with a second membership number.

Just to emphasize two earlier points... in addition to having the same use year

- The names have to match exactly
- The broker has to tell Disney to make it a subcontract BEFORE IT GOES TO FINAL CLOSING

To build on the OP's question, I'm thinking about purchasing a resale. I am a DVC member. If I understand the previous answers, you get a new membership number if the resale does not have the same UY as your existing membership. Does this mean that you'd have to transfer points between membership accounts? For example, let's say you have 150 VWL points (April UY) and purchase 150 BCV points (May UY). If you wanted to make a VWL reservation at the 7 mo window that requires 200 points, would you have to transfer 50 points from the BCV membership to the VWL membership?

Thanks for your help!

Yes, unless they are able to accomodate you at MS. By that I mean, they may be able to book one or two nights with just your BCV points and link the ressie to the days booked with your VWL points.

For my DCL trips, they are able to "combine" the points from several contracts without having to transfer. My upcoming 2010 Baltic cruise is an example of this. They pulled from a total of 3 different contracts (membership numbers) to book my staterooms.

It always seems to work fine for me either way...
