Resale borrowing glitch still there

Was not able to borrow points, had to call MS, but I had a great experience. The lady was kind and said she knew about the glitch and was sorry I had to call. It took her 7 minutes per contract to borrow the points. So I think it is not a simple thing for them.

Glad there are good experiences out there as well :)

I don't know if this falls under the same category, but I was changing a reservation for February. I have 5 2021 (resale) points left at AKV and my full allotment of (direct) 2021 OKW points (Aug UY). I switched from OKW to Boardwalk, and thought I would pick up the 5 leftover AKV points, and it would not allow me to select that contract first. There was a little lock on it.

Also, I now have to clear my cache and everything every time I want to log in to the site. It wasn't like that before the downtime.

When you make a reservation during a home resort period and then modify ithe system online keeps the lock there and doesn’t let you change which way to use the points.

In these cases, I call MS and they have fixed it for me. I have even sent an email.

I think it is just a safeguard to ensure that a home resort priority reservation can’t be changed to use non home resort points. Not that you were, but it seems that is built that way on purpose.

Just another data point: was able to borrow from my resale Aulani contract into the 2022 use year. I wasn't able to do the same with our VGF resale contract last week.

I’ve always had to do this, just thought it was just me but it’s my dvc login every time whether it be web browser on my phone or laptop. MDE doesn’t make me do that, but for the dvc login I have to.

Here's a weird situation I haven't read about before... Home resort is AKV, 3 contracts - 1 direct, 1 2017 resale, one 2021 resale. Booked Aulani at 7 months, borrowed from 2021 (since we know those are the most restricted resale pts). Decided to modify reservation. Need to borrow 6 points. have 63 out of 100 available, so according to 50%, I can borrow 13 more without an issue. Dwarves. Try again. Dwarves. Try 2017 resale -can borrow no problem. So, I could borrow points for the initial reservation but when I tried to modify, the borrowing glitch got me? But only one of my 2 resale contracts? Oh Disney IT, you make my head hurt.

The only solution they had for me was to max out borrowing on one of my contracts so that I won't have to call. Really frustrating and targeting resale owners.

No one should be happy with this. It's unfair and a waste of everyone's time and dues.

I have read that some have an issue borrowing more than once from the same contract. Again, it just doesn't make any sense how some members like myself have no issues, no matter what, and then others do.

At this point, it is really unacceptable that there has been no explanation as to why it is not being fixed. And, even though I am not impacted by it all...could borrow yesterday for the 3rd time from my contract bought resale in 2017...I wrote them an email asking why it works for me and not others. I think it is important for them to hear from not only those who are impacted but also from those of us who are not.

I agree. I will definitely be emailing them soon. The fact that I *could* borrow to make the reservation, but not to modify... yet can borrow for a different, older resale contract. Not ok.

Sent an email, basically saying the info I posted, along with, I expect to be able to use ALL of my points, regardless of how or when purchased, online, especially since the hold times continue to be excessive. I asked how and when I could expect this issue to be resolved and made it clear that I am fully aware that this is a known issue with resale contracts. I doubt I'll get anywhere, but I was very blunt.

I think this is exactly the reason why Disney won’t fix it. Not enough people have complained.

add me to that list. I’m a direct point owner who’s account seldom works correctly. I’ve had several IT tickets open. I dump my cookies before every logon. I haven’t been able to open my dashboard for the last week, as there was obviously a new update. I again have an open ticket to have someone look at it. It’s very frustrating. yesterday I really need to modify so I logged on to try to open my dashboard. Left the room and it only took 4 hours to finally get it to come up. I didn’t wait for it, I just stopped by my computer every hour or so while decorating the house. I can only make one modification when it comes up. Just little things, like add names to a reservation. I did call last weekend to cancel, modify and bank before my deadline next week. Only took 2 hours because the CM could barely get into my account on her end and only had to work with a supervisor for the last 30 minutes, unsuccessfully, and did a work around to unborrow some points she couldn’t bank. It shouldn’t be this hard. I call so often I get to keep my same ticket each time. They just reopen it. 🙄

btw, they know there’s a resale issue because everytime I call IT the first thing they ask me is if I’m trying to use resale points. I do have a small 75 point resale contract (purchased over 10 years ago), but the majority of my points are direct 700+.

We know it impacts more resale but your example just goes to show direct points are impacted as well.

Not sure why this glitch bugs me since for the first time in forever I am awash in extra points & don’t need to borrow, but DVC has had months to fix this & have not.
As stated in DVC public offering disclosures “[t]he Vacation Ownership Plan requires that all Vacation Homes at [DVC Resort] be available for use by all Purchasers of Ownership Interests at [DVC Resort] at all times on a first come, first served reservation basis, through the Home Resort Reservation Component…” [emphasis added.]
On DVC’s website the Home Resort Reservation Component states in section III. 5. “Reservation requests for DVC resorts are taken on a first come, first served basis.”
DVC is aware that presently some purchasers are being denied online access to some of their points and thus are blocked from making reservations online with those points. Yet DVC opens online reservations 1 hour earlier than phone reservations thereby either maliciously or negligently denying some owners access to reservations on a first come, first served basis.
Typically malicious conduct leads to punitive damage awards should someone sue and prevail.
I‘m wondering if to not be in breach of their own terms DVC needs to shut down online reservations for all owners, or for all owners wanting to use borrowed points for a reservation, or at a minimum open phone & online reservations at the same time until they get this particular ‘tech glitch’ fixed.

I think what you would see is that the limit all to calling for borrowing, Even without the glitch they could do that. Or, just allow people to borrow proactively so the points are there when booking opens.

Would not make many owners happy to wait on the phone and they would not be required to staff more to cover it,

And, those who don’t need to borrow would still be at an advantage as long as the online system exists.

All of what you mention is why I am surprised it’s still happening. I can understand if it happened for a few months, but over 18 months? That’s a long time to let it go without an explanation.

Maybe that’s why it bugs me - that it’s been so long & they don‘t seem to be in a hurry to fix it & the first come/first served language seems so clear to me in the various documents.
I like the proactive borrowing idea, although that might lead to complaints if more people accidentally borrow too much.

The cast members I talked to had clearly done proactive borrowing before. They booked something random at the exact point count and then canceled.

I like to think that DVC would unborrow if I asked them to, given this is their own workaround for the issue they created. But all the cast members were clear this was permanent.

This. I have been wondering why someone hasn’t filed a legal claim of some kind …
