Anyone ever purchase a resale add on with the same UY at your current contracts (purchased through Disney) and and up with a separate new membership number? Everything I'd seen when researching resale led me to believe it would just be an addendum to my original member number. This was verified by the closing company during our purchase as well. But when I just called to see why our new VWL contract still wasn't showing up the CM said it was a different memebership. I questioned it but he insisted all resale add ons were handled that way. I believe he's wrong but certainly am not surprised a Disney CM gave out incorrect info. Anyway, I've contacted the closing company so we'll see what I hear back. Just curious if anyone has had a similar experience. Thanks.

Call back member services and speak to someone in member accounting. I ended up with 2 membership numbers (both resales with the same use year), and I was able to get it fixed. Keep calling until you can get someone who can help!

I have done a couple of resale purchases that were the same UY and they were correctly added on to my existing membership.

If you have purchased from The Timeshare Store, Inc.® please contact your associate immediately. The associate can check with Disney.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I called member accounting and apparently what happened was that I'm the primary on the first two contracts but my husband was put as the primary on the add on, hence the new member #. I have no idea why b/c I was the only one who ever dealt with the resale company (not The Timeshare Store, Jason, but thank you). Unfortunately the person in member accounting who dealt with it is out until Friday. So, I'm left hoping that it will get straightened out without too much trouble. The whole process had been so smooth up to this point too, dang it!

The things I've read here are that
  • the resale contract must be titled exactly the same way as your existing master contract (same names, same wording, etc.)
  • you should make sure the closing company notes that you want the contract set up as an add on
  • you should call DVC Admin when you close to let them know your paperwork is coming and that you want the new contract set up as an add on

Give DVC Admin a call ASAP to see what went wrong and see if they will fix it for you.

Yes, the title has to be exactly the same so that explains it. Whenever we've done resale there is a form to fill out on how you want title held. If you put your husbands name first then I believe that is what the title company would have followed. I don't know if DVC will be able to do anything for you but hope they can!

That's the thing, I never put my husband's name first on anything DVC -seeing as I do all the leg work :). I've since heard from my contact from the title company and she says she's spoken to Disney and they plan to straighten it out. Let's hope that's the case!

The new VWL contract is now showing in my account under my original membership so thankfully the title company was able to work it out with Disney - and pretty quickly! Thanks to everyone for your suggestions :)

I think I am in this exact same situation. My second resale purchase closed on 12/28/09 and is still not in my DVC account today. The title company said DVC posted the contract on 1/5/10. I suspect it got a new membership and the title company is suppose to be checking on that now. This resale is titled and same use year as all my others. My membership number was transmitted with the documents, so go figure.

It's just frustrating because I wanted to use these points! Hopefully the title company gets it all straightened out soon.

As I mentioned previously mine was resolved very quickly - same day the problem was realized. So, hopefully yours will be fixed soon as well. Not sure what's up with the DVC accounting people these days but someone must be asleep at the switch.
