I really would like a view where we can see the animals and was going to put in a request for a specific trail. I know they don't guarantee anything....

but what is everyone's experience with requests? do you all do them everytime you go? The only thing I "requested" was an in room crib.

I am just wondering if I should request anything or just leave it up to the Disney gods?

I think they are pretty good about granting requests for a specific trail: Zebra or Kudu.

We've been on both and I guess we in the minority who prefer Kudu trail. We loved the Sunrise or Sunset (forget the correct name) Savannah. Constant views of giraffes and it was so quite we heard them crunching the leaves.

When we stayed there 2 years ago, we we started out on the Kudo Trail ( I guess you could say outside of the trail/cirlcle), we could see animals, but we could also see a tall chain link fence and a building (maybe a barn that the animals are kept in). It did not make for a pretty view (in my opinion). When we booked the room, I had asked for a Savannah view, not realizing there were several savannahs. They moved us to a new room with no problem. We were moved to the Zebra Trail Rm 2573 ( I just happen to still have the map & room # they gave us). This is for what I call "The inside savannah", room faces the inside of the circle/horseshoe. If you are familiar with the shape of the resort it is similar to an open cirlce or circular horse shoe. We were in the very last section of this, we had a great view but with a 4 & 2 y/o (at that time), it could make for a very long walk. In the case of AK, you should ask for a lower level room, if you're above 3 the trees can get in your way of viewing the animals. So, if I were to go again, I would request a 2nd floor room on the "inside savannah" this may be called "Arusha Rock Savannah" but I'm not sure. Have a great trip, I loved it!!!

Haven't stayed at AKL but it seems to be no matter which WDW resort you book, you need to put your requests in order of importance. They won't guarantee anything as you know but they do seem to try to grant at least one or two on your list whenever possible. I've heard though to put them on your list in order of importance as they take from the top of your list I guess.

ie. if non-smoking is most important -- request that first and so on.

I wouldn't leave it up to the Disney gods as you put it lol - unless you'll be perfectly fine with whatever you end up. In my experience, it can't hurt to ask, the worse that can happen is the request isn't able to be granted.

Good luck!
