I really don’t want to hear from bitter Dems… Just real Republicans…

What do you think about McCain? Do you believe that he is really a conservative? I am a die-hard Republican: Ran for elected office as a Republican, ran as delegate for Thompson, worked for the Republican Party, etc. I am just not sure if I like/trust McCain. Don’t get me wrong, I will support, volunteer for and vote for him. I have attended every fundraiser and Lincoln day dinner that he has had in the last few months. I am just not sure if I like him. Hearing that he considered switching parties and his clear insistence on not running against Obama (firing staffers who opposed Obama) makes me wonder.

In the long run, he is better the Clinton/Obama by a HUGE landslide and I will support him because of that…

Oh, I guess I'll go first.

I'm pretty conservative. I don't like to think about John McCain. At all. BUT, as you have said....he's more palatable to me than the other choice will be come November.

And, now I might be out of the nice things to say about him (yes, of course, I know he's a veteran, war hero, etc.....I just mean nice things in reference to his recent service to our country).

he is not a conservative and near the bottom of my picks for the party. But I think some if his liberal voting records was just cause he holds grudges, my hope is he will get mad at the Dems for attacking him, and he will become real conservtive

As I read this post, it reminded me of a song I liked LOOOOOONG ago by a group called Pink Floyd. One of the verses of the song was (PF fans will be hummin this song all night because of me) "I've got 13 channels of $#!% on the TV to choose from".
Thats kinda (in a rude sort of way) how I feel about the choices I have for president.
I don't like ANY of the 3. I'll vote for him, but only because he's more conservative than the other 2.
My mom summed it up "The MEDIA chose McCain as our republican candidate because he was about the most liberal of the lineup.".

(gearing up flame resistant trousers) Hey, you asked!!!

Hahaha! I've got my flame resistant body suit on, because I agree with everything you said. :) I am very curious who actually voted for him in the primary.

Not me. And I'm in Ohio....and everyone else had essentially dropped out by then. But their names were still on the ballot.....;)

Regarding the first part of your post, is there any other kind of Democrat? (joking joking.....I know at least 3 or 4-ok 5 who aren't bitter....)

I am conservative (but all those polls we took here earlier in the week kinda make me wonder if I am conservative enough for today). I am more conservative fiscally than socially (basically, others can do what they like, where they like with who they like as long I don't have to subsidize it).

I don't like Sen McCain much. I would not want to have a beer with him. I respect him and his accomplishments though. I honestly believe he is more of a Reagan conservative than we give him credit for nowadays. Do I have evidence for this claim? None whatsoever, except his recent speeches remind me of Ronald Reagan very much (and he does say he is a Reagan conservative). I am encouraged by this and it contrasts very well with the craziness from the other side of the aisle right now.

I fully expect that when he is elected he will pull an "Ahnold" and move to the center on select social issues (the illegal immigration thing does grate on me very much). I think on foreign affairs and fiscal matters he will be very conservative (these are most important to me).

I will crawl uphill, in the rain, backwards & upside down over flaming broken glass on election day to cast my vote for John McCain.

I am Mr Man. I have approved this message.

Can't stand him, but I will vote for him. The thought of either Hillary or Obama makes me scared for my money. Taxes will go sky high to pay for everything they want to fund.

Then again, I don't have much use for Bush either. He did lower taxes, but then he decided to spend more money. :confused3

Haha... I don't know any :lmao:

I like that idea. I would also like to see Mitt Romney on the ticket.

That's because he didn't abandoned your state and you're not stuck with Deval Patrick as your Govenor....if Mitt is on the ticket then I'm voting Libertarian:thumbsup2

I voted for Mitt Romney in the primary, and then he promptly dropped out of the race...

I was excited and happy and proud to vote for Mitt in the primary.

I will be voting for McCain in the general election as the lesser of 2 evils, whichever Socialist ... er, I mean Democrat ... is on the ticket against him.

I also voted for Mitt in the primary. If they would of let me I would of voted for Obama because the thought of the Clintons anywhere near the white house makes me sick to my stomach.
I will hold my nose and vote for Mccain in Nov. though. No way am I voting to have my taxes raised by some socialist like was said before.
My biggest beef with Mccain is that he voted against tax cuts. HELLO? What was that all about.
I also think he is somewhat of a loose cannon with a horrid temper. Who knows though we may need that in a president. Bush IMHO is sometimes too laid back and unable to get the job done for fear of pissing people off. FWIW I would have bombed Iraq and especially Pakistan back to the stone age. The strategic strikes didn't seem to do the job.

But I will never forget the last time Mccain ran for prez and maria shriver asked him a question and he told her to shut up. I was pretty stunned. I know alot of candidates must think that but you know most of them are able to keep it together long enough to put on their pretty facce.

I voted for Romney. My husband volunteered on his campaign. He was my first choice.

I support John McCain. He is a man of integrity and honor with a heroic record of service to his country. If he says he "gets" it now on immigration and has vowed to keep taxes low, I trust the man at his word.

I saw him here at a town hall meeting ahead of our primary and nothing in his platform then offended my conservative sensibilties. I voted for him in the 2000 primary here.

I think running against Obama is going to be tricky business, and its best to keep the tone positive. I had a friend who worked on McCain's campaign here, and I'm happy to volunteer if needed!

We lived in MA when he was governor. I don't feel that way...your vote libertarian is ok though, it won't matter in MA ;) :flower3:

I forgot to mention ... I do like that McCain seems to come around on at least one of the issues.

I know he voted against the tax cuts because they were not coupled with spending cuts. OK, I get that.

But, I have heard McCain say more than once that he's heard the message and he does want to secure our borders and stop illegal immigration. That is important to me, and I will take him at his word at that.

To those of us McCain supporters (begrudgingly or not) : would you rather see him run against Hillary or Barack?

I'm definitely voting for McCain. There is no way in heck that I want those two bleeding heart, steal my money, socialist wanna-bes in office. However, I would rather see Hilary be the Dem nominee because Obama and his you know what of a wife scare the crap out of me. You know, the person who wants change yet is involved with Tony Rezko, Jeremiah Wright and God knows what other pillars of society that I am sure will come out of the woodwork for their paybacks should he achieve the office of the POTUS. Just the thought of him being president "gives me shivers up my leg", in the words of one of Obama's slobbering groupies, Chris Matthews.:rotfl:

I wanted him to run against Hillary, which is why I voted for her in the primary. We have open primaries and you can vote either ticket.

Oh yes, I also forgot to add that my once "die-hard Democrat" liberal husband, is also voting Republican, as he feels the Democratic party has turned their backs on what is important, wants to steal my hubby's hard-earned money to give to those less inclined to work hard, and CAUSE industry to go over seas by all the nonsensical regulations the Dems want to impose on corporations, such as the "coming to find out is bogus" global warming scam!
