Unfortunately I'm afraid of snakes, too.
I saw one in and amongst the tombstones at the entry to the HM a few years ago. It just slithered away.
I also saw one in the leaves and grass behind our cabin in FW. Again, it slithered away and left us alone.
At the waterparks, you'll have a clear line of site, everywhere you go, so if there is one, you'll see it. And, you'll go the other way.
My DH was bitten by a snake last year, couldn't catch it and kill it, so unsure of type, and landed in ICU for 3 days. He was on an island where everyone assumed there were no snakes. So, he wasn't really looking around for them. Here is our tip; watch where you are walking especially in the dark or at dusk. He walked up on the snake, scared it, and the snake couldn't get away before DH stepped on it. They are just a part of nature, like anything else, they just have to dealt with. And, they can be anywhere. But, they don't like us either.
