Rep.Stark (D) Should apologize!

Most of the country is fed up with how the President has handled the the war. Some are more vocal about it.

Then he should have commented on the war, not insulted the President by claiming he enjoys watching soldiers get blown apart.

This isn’t about supporting the war or supporting the troops. It’s about the rep saying the president finds soldiers deaths amusing. I guess all of you that have come in and added your “he’s right! I agree with him!” also believe Bush enjoys watching our children die in war. It’s sick really (to believe he would find this amusing). Agree with the war or not, you can’t seriously believe Bush enjoys watching soldiers get blown apart (or, as demonstrated by this thread, perhaps you can…). I’m can’t say I’m surprised with many of the responses though, considering the current political attitude on the DIS.
My point exactly!

Like it or not-only 24% of the country still agrees with you and fewer than that support Congress.

Hold on to your outrage, because you're going to have plenty of chances to use it in 2009 and further-and you have nobody but GW and the do-nothings in Congress to thank for that. As I said above-the Republicans had an amazing opportunity to show America that they were the party that was going to get things done and they threw it away.

Seriously, what you wrote is how I feel and why I left the Republican party. That part bolded above says it all for me. They had a unique chance to show America why they should be in charge and with the help of the POTUS, they blew it. Huge deficits, using our military to nation build, stretching the military thin and running it down, and the list goes on. In fact, just look up everything GWB said in the 2000 campaign and see how he violated and broke every promise he made, especially the ones concerning the military. I'm not kidding, look up up what he said. It's completely different from what he has done.

It will be kind of funny to see all those who excuse everything the current POTUS does, become vigilant watchdogs if Hillary gets elected. I look forward to it.

I agree that the bolded line was over the top.

What I don't agree with is the amount of time and energy we spend on demanding apologies and being outraged with what gets said on the House and Senate floor, what ads get put in the NY Times, with what talk radio hosts and TV show commentators say and all these other things that are TRIVIAL in relation to the fact that we are still in Iraq with no end in sight, that Osama is still making videos from a cave, that middle class families are struggling with higher costs of everything, that people in our country don't have health care, that illegal immigrants are continuing to pour over the border and use our resources....

Exactly! Thank you.:thumbsup2 You're on quite the roll today and using up the daily requirement of common sense that gets used on these boards.

This is how a lot of us feel with the words written above, at least I do and I'm proud to stand behind Fits on this. All of you who are quick to condemn Rep. Stark over his stupid choice of words, should slowly re read what Fits wrote above. A lot of us don't care about the outrage over words and speeches being used anymore. We want results, mistakes fixed, things done better in the future, and our nation to heal. It's not 2003 anymore. I could care less about what this Stark guy said or how the POTUS feels. We have real problems facing us and we need to keep our eye on the ball.

Thank you again, Fits.

The "amusement " part was hyperbole. I agree that hyperbole was not a good choice when there is a section of the audience waiting to pick apart the words. It was meant to convey his disgust for the financial and human toll the war has taken on this country.

If you want to start taking words literally.....are you prepared for the President to be taken for his every word?:confused3

It was an absolutely stupid, ridiculous, low class thing to say. And I don't expect him to apologize. He comes from one of the most low class organizations on the planet. The government ;)

Boo hiss... Stark said something bad. Cry me a friggin' river. BUSCH however, goes beyond words and steps into the realm of action and in the process, kills thousands and thousands of men, women and children on both sides.

I'll take words over action any day.

spare me......are you gonna blame everything on the "liberal media".

I don't think anyone here believes Mr. Bush likes to watch children die....However we can't help but point out all the inconsistencies in his
policies.

Right now one oil company has signed several oil deals in the Kurdish part of Iraq that is undermining the one Iraq policy that GWB advocates .
Of course the president of that company is part of GWB's inner circle
and was Ranger in his re-election committee.
BTW....you have to contribute at least 100,000 to be a "ranger".
Just saying.

Yep, Bush is killing them all. The terrorists are innocent. :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

I guess FDR killed 450,000 American soldiers (plus civilians) -- the Germans and Japanese had nothing to do with it.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 To both Fitswimmer & disneyfan, excellent posts!!

Not at all, but I do expect that a Democrat wiretapping phone calls won't sound as innocent to some as a Republican doing it. I think that a Democratic VP placing himself or herself in a branch of government all their own won't be looked upon as calmly to some as it was when Cheney did it. I don't think a Democratic administration keeping so much secret under the heading of national security will fly as well with some as it does under GW. I don't think that National Terror Level announcements will be viewed the same way when made by Democrats as they are now.

Of course, when all these complaints do arise, GW and his administration have provided many examples of why it's perfectly ok.
Actually, for the bolded part, they do. And it usually involves things that they don't want the world to know while they are alive. As for the rest, do you really think it hasn't happened before, ecept for the Natioanl Terror Level announcements?

I agree with most of what you are posting, it's just this particular post I disagree with.

You are correct and thank you for pointing that out. In my mind I was thinking remaining Bush supporters. Even though I have been labeled by some here on these boards, as a liberal, I still feel conservative on many issues. The current Republican party, GWB, and his supporters don't see eye to eye with me. I see mistakes and the serious missteps this administration has done and will not ignore them. It's not who I am or what I'm about.

I think his mom does.

Kidding.

It's too bad Rep. Stark didn't use what you just wrote above. It would have been a lot better and got right to the point. What he said was stupid, IMO and should have been done differently. While I don't agree with his choice of words, I understand his anger. There's a lot of people angry over this war, how it was conceived, planned, and carried out. I find it amazing that some who still support the POTUS over Iraq, just dismiss this anger as trivial and childlike. It's a serious matter and the people who are upset and dissatisfied, have a good reason to be. The sheer amount of dollars and precious resources wasted in Iraq is enough to make any reasonable person sick to their stomach. I dread opening up my newspapers in the morning and seeing the chaos that's still going on in Iraq, almost 5 years later.
As I was reading your post, I was thinking what a different world it would be if we hadn't invaded Iraq. Hussein would still be in power, there would still be hundreds of thousands dieing in Iraq (almost 1/3 of them under 14), but we would not be involved.

I no longer believe that we should have invaded. If we had not, if we had just continued in Afghanistan or whatever country Bin Laden was in, the deaths we would have received would have been seen in a different light. We might still be looking for him, but it would be an active search instead of one that seems to be on the back burner.

I hope whoever is elected next, Democrat or Republican, is able to get us better focused.

It’s sick really (to believe he would find this amusing).

Gee, I thought it was pretty "sick" that Bush thought it was a laugh riot to perform that little one-man skit about looking for those phantom WMDs.
