For future reference...is it possible to rent points for Animal Kingdom Lodge and The Polynesian?

I'm not a DVC owner so I may be wrong, but I don't think so. The resort has to be a DVC property such as Beach Club, Boardwalk, Old Key West, Saratoga Springs, Wilderness Lodge Villas. Maybe someone who is an actual DVC member will confirm. :)

DVC points can be used for all of the WDW resorts except for the values, the BC, BWI & WL. So yes, you could rent points to stay at the AKL or the Poly if you like

However, it will almost certainly be less expensive to make your reservations directly for Disney for the non-WDW DVC resorts. You can usually get a 1 or 2 bedroom DVC unit for less points than you can a room at one of the deluxe resorts.

Best wishes -

The best value is to rent a DVC resort. From time-to-time there are special offers to various WDW resorts.

Also, if you are interested in renting there is a rent board for that purpose. I will advise you from my experience in renting my points they do not last too long. In addition when asking a DVC member to make reservations you should have the dates of travel and several resorts in priority order to facilitate the transaction.

Good luck and enjoy.

Thanks for your help everyone! :goodvibes
I was just curious. We are already renting from a DVC owner for this trip. I received DVC info in the mail becuse I'm interested in owning, Dh is not. I noticed that there is a category "Disney" DVC, you can use your timeshare in any Disney resort, not just the home away from home. I was wondering if it's possible to rent points from a DVC owner for one of the deluxe resorts instead of home away from home. Guess I'll find out when the time comes! :)

Yes you can but it will be quite expensive. For example since you mentioned the Poly if you wanted to stay during value season, check in on a Sunday and check out on a Friday and have a garden view room it would cost you 180 points. At 10/point that is 1800. Plus I am sure the restrictions for renting at a non-DVC resort would be greater than if you were renting at a DVC resort because once these points go to a non DVC resort they can't be converted back.
