Renting Stroller Wheelchairs

Does anyone know if there are places near WDW that can rent stroller-wheelchairs such as the Otto Bock?

Hannah is no longer steady in a regular stroller due to balance issues, but she is no where big enough for a wheelchair. We are in the process of getting her one, but it is hugely unlikely that it will come before we leave for WDW/GKTW.

This is what we are looking for (or very similar):

Thanks!

Hey Judy :)

I saw those, but I couldn't find any that had this type of stroller (unless I missed it!)

Unfortunately that one wouldn't work. We are looking for one with underarm support as well as back support for when she sits up.

But thank you for helping!

I'm going to start looking around here (Vegas) to see if anyone has one here we can rent and bring with us as an alternative.

and you might want to contact actual medical supply companies down in orlando. They might have more than the classic wheelchair and stroller rentals.

Let me do a little more looking and I might find somewhere for you. :dance3:

and by actual I mean a place like CARES that rent more than just wheelchairs/ECV's and strollers. and even if they don't rent that type, I would assume they would have an idea of where you could. :confused3 also, if you are in the process of ordering one for her, ask those people where you might be able to rent one in the mean time? spefically mention WDW?

You may also want to look in your area to rent one. That way you would have it in the airport, too. You can bring it right up to the door of the plane and it doesn't count as luggage.

eek....

We call that a "snug seat" at Lauren's house - and to my knowledge, no one rents them - because they have to be specifically sized for the child - so they would have a hard time having enough sizes to rent out?

I broke Lauren's snug seat a few years ago and it has never been replaced - costs too much money and "counts" as a wheelchair. We would be much better off getting the real wheelchair covered, since it was over $20,000 and have never gotten around to purchasing another snug seat for her.

But...I think Lauren would be able to sit in one of the special needs strollers without underarm support - because she would be able to lean so far back that it would basically support her?? Not sure...but you may want to check on that?

Good name for them... Hannah likes sitting upright because she has very limited neuromuscular control over her vision, so most things need to be in her midline or very close to midline in order for her to see clearly.

Yeah, the one we are looking at for Hannah runs about a few thousand. Blows my mind!

Our MAW volunteer is looking to help us find one (which is awesome). But after the calls I made both here and in Florida, I think it is an impossible task.

I think we may just have to find a way to tweek her current regular stroller for the trip. Maybe use some firm pillows or maybe even travel pillows bundled together/ No sure, we will have to play with it.
