We'll be taking my mother to WDW and she has some mobility problems.

When we were there several years ago, we rented a scooter from Walker Mobility. Looking at them again and just wanted to see if experience with them has been good or if there's a better choice.

Second question...Have reserved an accessible room at POFQ. Just got the ressie confirmation in an e mail and there's no mention about it being a HC room - just say's std view. Is that normal? Would think there would be some mention.

Thanks

Walker, Randy's and Care are probably the top 3 that people on the DIS use.

What type of room did you get?
There are fully wheelchair accessible rooms with roll in showers.
Handicapped accessible rooms with grab bars for the tub and raised seat toilets.
And, then some people just have a first floor room so they can drive the ECV in.

I don't have (and haven't read) any information about email confirmations. Did you have other requests and were they on there?
Our last DVC confirmation sheet said something 'weird' like "handicapped guest", not what we expected it to say since we reserved a roll in shower room.

I like walker, we used them in march and everything went great.
We've used them several times in the last few years and always liked them.

I can't answer the room issue.
However, I've seen people post here, that you need to make sure the accesibility is what you need. People with different mobility issues need different set-up in the rooms. So double check all the specific things you need are available in the room you requested.

Thanks for the replies. We'll probably use Walker since we used them before.

On the room, I specifically requested raised toilet and shower stool, grab bars. So would think that would give us the roll in shower. Probably best if I call the resort before arrival to confirm.

Any other tips greatly appreciated.

Not necessarily. They do have portable shower stools that they can 'add' to room with a tub.
From what I understand, I don't think the resort actually gets your reservation until a few days before you arrive. Besides, I know that when you call the resort phone number, you actually get a call center with someone answering for that resort, not someone actually at the resort.
Your better bet would be to call CRO (or however you made your reservation) or Special Reservations (number is in the disABILITIES FAQs thread).
