Renting reservations

I have a few questions about renting. We have a reservation for October at BWV on points we are considering renting out.
What is the going rate for points? Does it depend on anything?
Also, is it possible to change the name on the ressie to the new renter's name??
Any other restrictions to be aware of?? Thanks!!!

The going rate appears to be $10 a point. Don't know exactly how this figure was determined but the mathematicians on the board can explain it if you feel you need the info. On page 35 of the Members Guidebook it states that if you are making a reservation for a guest, you'll need their name, address, phone number, and exact party size to complete the reservation. There may be a restriction on their ability to pool-hop but I'm not 100% certain about this. I'm sure someone here will know for sure. Hope this helps.

You put out the ressie for whatever you want. You'll see you'll get a lot more bites if the ressie is priced "right" so to speak which I think in this case being 2 mos. away would be around $7 or $8 per point. My opinion. Good luck!!!

October, esp. the latter half, seems to be solidly booked and BWV is EXTREMELY desirable. You're still within the 31 day cancellation period and you may want to do that and schedule time in the spring of 2003 and offer the points then. Someone will surely be happy to take you up on BWV points.

Some things to think about (if you haven't already):

*If you cancel the reservation 30 days or less before arrival, the points will go into a holding account.

*Banking deadlines. You didn't specify your use year or if your ressie is using current or borrowed points. I'll assume you wouldn't be thinking of renting if you could cancel and then bank the points.

I agree with fkj2 that Ocotober is a very popular time for BWV. It's Food & Wine Festival time at EPCOT and there are several other special events happening during October.

My advice is to try to rent out the reservation as is. (My understanding is that there isn't much availability this fall so renting points without a ressie will probably be much more diffficult and definitely more of a hassle). I do not agree that you should list it for $7 or $8 a point. Due to current lack of availability at BWV and the fact that you already have a ressie, I think you can get someone to pay $10 per point. You have until 31 days before arrival to cancel the ressie and try something else.
