Want to know for next time. If you can only transfer in or out one time, how can renters, rent their points in different amounts at the same time. Example 100 points for rent, 4 different people rent 25 each, that is 4 transfers out for that owner, I thought disney was only allowing one? Since I was not sure how that worked I had a friend rent me one night, then we reserved the rest. I now have points left, I did not have enought points to rent the final night. Thanks

Renting points is where a member makes a reservation using their points in the name of someone else, Guest. This guest can be either a member or a non-member. The responsibility for the reservation and ultimately for even the stay stays with the original DVC member. Money doesn't have to be exchanged here as its an agreement between two parties.

A transfer moves points, independant of a reservation, from one member to another member. When the transfer occurs the other member has full control of those points and can do whatever they want.

Hope that helps.

To clarify - you can rent out as many times as you have points for - only transfers are limited.

EDIT - to further clarify - there are rules against "commercial" renting. It's kind of a fuzzy line in the sand. But we think it's up around 20 rentals a year, something most people don't have to worry about.

Because, in reality, you are renting a reservation and not actually renting points.

I meant transfer of points to me, so I can make my reservation. I thought you could only transfer points in or out one time a year. So how does the person with 100 points transfer the points in different denominations? Is that not more then one transfer? I know you can only transfer either in or out. Thanks

If the owner has multiple memberships, NOT a single membership with add-ons, but actually different membership numbers, they could theoretically have one transfer per membership.

Otherwise, they are limited to the one transfer rule and renting reservations rather than transfer points.

You can only transfer points in or out once per year PER CONTRACT. So if I am renting points, I can do one transfer on each contract I own. The rest of the time, I rent the reservation, but the points remain in my own ccount. If you are renting points, you would need to rent all your points from one person, and have that person transfer all the points into your account. But if you make a mistake, and need more points, you are out of luck, because you can't have any more points transferred into your account. Did that clear things up for you??;)

Just to be specific, according to our contract, the renter would not be a "guest". Guest is a term reserved for allowing someone to use your points without compensation. And, you are required by our contract to specifically notify MS if you make a reservation for someone who is a renter as opposed to a guest.
