Renting points--when?

A friend has expressed interest in renting points for April, 2009. She would really like to stay at VWL. When exactly should she start scouting the rent board for points? Also, does she inquire for the specifics of a trip ("Wanted: 1br at VWL, third week in april 2009")? Or does she just look for someone with available VWL points and then ask them to make a reservation?

Hope these questions make sense, we've never rented our points out before and only once rented a few to make up points we needed for a vacation so I am not able to answer her questions.

For experienced renters, how hard is it to get the resort you want in a relatively popular timeframe (i.e. April vacation)?

I would believe it is better to be specific when requesting what you are looking for, i.e., looking to rent VWL 1BR for third week April 2009. As to when to go looking, owners at VWL can call to make reservations beginning 11 months out, which in your case would be third week in May. Thus, your friend probably should go looking shortly before that and should probably post her own thread as to what she is looking for. Getting what you want depends on whether there will be anyone with VWL points willing to rent when you go looking. If ressie is made 11 months out, it is generally easy to get what you want.
