Renting points/ staying on waitlist?

Not sure where to post this... I have a reservation for theBoardwalk for Dec 9-12 for a preferred view and am waitlisted for a Boardwalk view. We may have to change our dates to Oct ( son has finals that following week, Go Huskies!). Most resorts are sold out as far as DVC goes, will prob. do a combo of cash and points. Anyway, my question is, if I sell this or trade this reservation, can the reservation remain on the waitlist?

The DVC Board is a great place to post a waitlist question.

In this case, if you choose to rent your reservation to someone else, you can still be on the waitlist for another reservation using your points. The waitlist is not dependent on having an existing reservation already in place.
